Modern Muscle Points Series
This past Saturday I attended the 2015 Racers Meeting for Island Dragway. While in the meeting the owner and staff announced that they will be having a Modern Muscle EFI points series. The series will consist of 9 races throughout their schedule with the last race taking place on August 9th. Every race is on a Saturday. ET break is 10.00 to 19.99. Slicks are allowed. The top points earner in this class will represent Island Dragway at this year's Bracket Finals which will be held Atco.

I want to hear what you 'Vette owners that drive your car to/from the track think about Island............. E-Town has it's issues like any other track, but the facility is top-notch.

Island Dragway has a short shut down. Its nice for test n tune on a Saturday,Get there early and you can get a bunch of runs in till either you blow up or get bored.Facility is no where near as big as etown,Its kind of a out in the woods track IMO.Tech is tuff if you have a fast car.Other then that its not a bad place to race.

No Islands facilities are not E towns but they are stepping up to give a place to race on Saturdays. Hopefully they get the support to grow this class. The track gets full prep on race days.

Safety Car
For me it's an "average" on Mapquest of 1hr 40min and 90 miles. I sold my other car so I did not have to change tires at the track, and there is no way I would drive that distance on drag radials (especially when the "grooves" are gone) without a spare.

I race at Island about 4 or 5 times a year and I was doing about the same at Etown so I can compare the two for you guys who are unfamiliar with Island.
Saturday racing at Island is 6 PM, or later, start of eliminations.
Tech cards are about $10 more at Island (i.e. Street bracket at Island, vs CC at Etown.)
Track prep is as good at Island as Etown. I run the same 60ft at both but maybe 1 tenth slower ET at Island.
Shutdown area is short at Island but anything under 150 mph is no problem.
Tech inspec at Island is much more thorough.
Pit area at Island is very small and does get crowded.
The road leading into the track at Island (Island Rd) is very bumpy.
Otherwise, the roads near Island are a pleasure to drive on compared to RT 18 etc.
Creature comforts at Island are minimal - porta johns and hot dog trucks only. (Since they reopened 2 years ago.)
