Default Think I Will Run 10s?

2000 Corvette, M6, 3.42s, 476whp. MT 26x11.5 -17 bias ply ET Streets.

PB last year was 11.791 @ 121.46, 1.769 60' (7.707 @ 91.99 1/8). Launched at idle to protect the diff. It was the only mostly clean pass I had that day. Bogged down a out of the hole and was slow to get into 3rd.

Next weekend I am doing a nice build on my 3 rib with all C6 Z06 internals and 3.90s. Between the gearing and actually being able to launch the car, think I will break into the 10s? Or do you think I will come up a few tenths short....

Also, how much more power or gearing do you think I would need if I were to step up to 28s? Wanting to get some 16s for the rear and if I do I am considering MT 28x11.5 -16 bias ply ET Streets....

Well, I don't think so......
Also I would guess you don't have any safety equip, like a rollbar
safety harness. It just gets worse the faster you go. Good luck.

I have a 6pt cage in the works this summer. Seats and harnesses will go in, I hope, this fall as money permits. If I end up running drag week after all, I will definitely have them by then.

I don't think the 3:90 gears would do the trick. you may get another .10 with them or may develop more tire spin?? Get your 60 down to 1.5's & you may be low 11's with that whp. I don't have enough knowledge about the tire diameter's to answer that part. Grab another 30 -40hp & you may see 10.9's

Your tires are good for mid 1.4s on a well prepped track. Your gearing is fine. You have more than enough power to run 10s in decent weather. The key will be launching and shifting the car. The bias ply tires are a plus as you can spin them and still cut a good 60'. (A little spin is needed.) Nose needs to stay up and prevent a bog. This will be with the clutch and throttle modulation. You never mentioned your clutch. Some are better than others to obtain the desired results. Tell us about the clutch and we can give some input. (Never dump the clutch as very bad things can happen.) As for 28's, you do not need them running N/A. Even with 4.10s, you could still trap +/-128 mph at 6600 rpm on the 26" ET Streets. (They tend to grow a bit.) To reach 10s, your trap speed would need to be +/- 124 mph.

my clutch is a Monster Level 3...doesn't really slip much at all lol....

If it makes a difference, I have trapped 124 - 125 with a slower et though lol.

I can spray it, but I would much rather get 10s NA....I still need to upgrade my headers/exhaust (1 3/4 to 2" primaries, 2.5" x-pipe and exhaust to 3") but that is yet another $2500 for only about 30hp. Also need to upgrade the OEM LS3 intake, assuming either the new FAST or MSD intakes prove to be a worthwhile gain.

That clutch will work for what you are doing. You need to modulate your clutch to get some initial slip as you are feeding it throttle. You obviously have the trap speed. A high 1.4 to a low 1.5 can get you there if everything else is in order. (good clean quick shifts, no bog) No need to go to 2" primaries as they would be too large. 1 7/8" ARHs work great if you are upgrading.

Take Gary's advice and most of all practice. The car has tens. If you post videos of your passes we can help out a bit.

I definitely will gopro my runs once I get it back on the road - something in the trans/diff/torque tube let go this morning...good thing I have a 4 day weekend and was intending to pull it all out to rebuild the diff and refresh the trans anyway haha.

I have a nice spot I am going to work the launch at. Can you recommend any good record keeping software/log books? The one I was using I am really starting to hate due to ****** functionality and it keeps losing my data.

We write the pertinent info on the timeslips and then transpose it to an excel spreadsheet. This way you can crunch numbers and sort the data. Makes it much easier to compare runs.
