Default Early C4 street drag radial info

Looking at getting a set of rear wheel/tire combo for my '85. Would be driven mainly for street use, Saturday night cruising, shows, and maybe a few trips to the closest strip (about 2hrs away.)

I want decent hookup on the street and was thinking of 15x10, 6.5 backspacing, or 15x8, 5.5bs. wheels, and with from what I can find from searching for a few days here on the forum, a 275/60/15 street radial would be a decent choice. A member mentioned a 26x11.5 drag tire worked well on his, but want to stick to a radial, tubeless tire that would be more street friendly. I will have to stick with my 17x9.5" zr-1 wheel/tires on the front due to budget...

I would like it to fill up the wheel well as much as possible, but I don't want to have to worry too much about rubbing on the wheel well or fender lip.

Think I should be good to go with that size tire, or does anyone have any ideas for my '85?

Thanks,

Carl

I ran 315/35/17 drag radials on my 93 for years...Nitto's but not the softer drag strip model...that's about the only one you can use and still drive regularly...555R model, maybe?...

The more I think about it, I may go to a 17x11 wheel and the 315's.
Would you advise against the Nitto NT05R's for mostly street use/Saturday night cruising?, or were you just mentioning you had the 555R's?

Thanks for the reply.

The NT05R's are not good for the street...they wear really quickly and are very dangerous in any wet condition...the 555 will wear much longer and get you home in the wet with a little caution...

If you are serious about dragstrip traction, the 15x8 or 15x10 wheel will fit on an 85 with a 26" or 28" tire.
