Default C5Z Heading to the track tonight.

Meyham 2 cam
Vararam intake
LT headers stock Ti exhaust
Nitto 555r's

Looking to redeem myself....

So my first time to take the car to the track was pretty lack luster. I was only able to get one run in and, as it was my first time down the track in this car, it didn't go as well as I would have hoped. 12.30 @ 118. 1.99 60 ft. After a fairly soft launch the car wheel hopped in second pretty hard - lifted - got squirlly in third - slight lift. And got a little loose on the 3-4 shift. The 555r's were at full street pressure (35 psi) as I wanted a true baseline. I wish this thing would have run the way it does on the street. Very little wheel hop, more stable on the 2-3 shift and no drama in 4th.

This trip I'll air the tires down to 19 psi. Going for 11's. I'll post the results.

Run a drag radial and you'll be fine.

Sounds like the track prep wasn't all that great. With the tires aired down you might do better. With the trap speed of 118 you should have an 11.XX run in there someplace.

Went 11.749 @ 121.5. Track prep was better. My 60ft wasn't any better but being able to put the power down all the way through the traps really helps. 2nd gear still had a good bit of wheel spin although not near as bad as the first trip. third still spun a bit and fourth always gives a bit of a wiggle.

Here's how it played out

60ft - 1.895 - spun...
330 -5.090
1/8 - 7.639 at 96.33
1000 - 9.839
1/4 - 11.749 at 121.56

Time only allowed for two runs. The first pass the beams were not working for the 1/4 mile time but were running for the rest of the pass. Everything on that run was about the same as the run I just posted. All in all I had fun. Solid 11 sec car, full weight (2/3 tank of gas) 3490 with me in the car.

With a stick car you might do better with Bias Ply tires. Plus they are a little easier on the drive train. If you are planning to go to the track on a regular basis, you may want to invest in a Drag Pack either a CCW's or Bogarts. I ran ET Streets on my C-5 and my 60 ft times improved over the radials. You can find used Drag Packs for about 1500 to 2000 depending on age and condition.

Agreed. The Nittos are great for the street but for the track the reality is they are a street tire getting you down the track versus the MT DR which is really a track tire that will get you to the track and back. If I am going to be taking this thing to the track regularly I will invest in a better setup. MT ET streets is what I have run in the past of different platforms. I need to do some research into what tire/wheel combo will be best for my power level and one which requires no grinding or other modification. That said, unless I pull quite a bit of weight and get more aggressive in gearing I will just be chasing a lower 11.xx sec time slip.

I switched from radials to bias ply for the track and will never go back as long as I have a manual. Night and day difference. I have a lot more confidence in the drive train as well.
