Only way to really know is to put them on and find out. You may have to put your car back at, or close to, stock ride height.

Personally, I think that tire is too tall for you and could very likely slow your car down some.

Don't give up on the 275/40/17 just because you think it wasn't working. There are many factors that affect the way a tire sticks. Track prep, tire pressure, launch technique. You might not have any control over track prep, but you have total control over the other two.

People, with practice, have been in the 1.4 60' times with that tire.

I am also stuck on the debate of whether or not to purchase 295s or stay with 275s. I have 275s on a pair of C5Z fronts that have performed great for me and I think I am going to buy a pair of 295s and put them on some spare wheels and see which works best. This is on a stock engine with bolts ons and nitrous through an auto. When I try this ill definitely be posting a comparison.

In general, the less power you have, the shorter tire you'll want to run. And the lower the gear, the better. For example, a bolt on car with 4.10s and a 25-26" tire is better than 3.42 and a 28" tire.
