Default Nitto NT05R or Mickey Thompson ET Street S/S???

I'm in a pinch. Need a pair of rear tires. Was procrastinating and now the Mickey's are backordered when I actually NEED to get a set (bought a house, lease is up at end of month and car is on jackstands at lease house still).

This NOT a drag car (though I figured I'd get the best response here). It's a street/fun car, and long run high speed car (1/2 and full mile).

I'm wanting some real world experiences with both tires. Looking to see if the Nitto's are going to hold up to 800+ at the tires on the street even remotely close to the Mickeys (I had a set of the ET Street Radial II's before the new wheels and they were AWESOME).

personally I've always had better luck with Mickeys in general VS Nitto NT05R, I could never hook the Nittos and I don't have near your power....

Giving the NT05R's a shot. Jegs had.....TWO.....in stock in 305/35-19. Figure for a split between the mickeys (670 locally) and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup ($270 delivered but I know I'd murder them with the power) that theycd be worth the investment. That and my time crunch was dictating a fix fast. Should have them in hand tomorrow.

My bad. Forgot about this thread. I've had them on the car since late January, and have had it out on a couple of nice days for some spirited introductions to a couple of newer friends (their reactions were more along the lines of "oh my god we're going to die!").

I absolutely LOVE the NT05R. THe 305/35-19 NT05R actually, on the street, hooks up better than the 305/35-18 Mickey Thompson ET Street II did. I know variables like heat, humidity, how hot the tire is, etc all come into play, but again, I'll say, on the street, the NT05R's hook up better than the MT's did. VERY stable, I had no issues slinging the car around corners, couldn't feel any sidewall roll or anything like that. Haven't and WON'T be testing them in the wet however.

My $.02, these are FANTASTIC tires for the money (around $525 for a pair of 305/35-19).

I just went the first time out with a set of 275 40 17 NT05Rs on a stock 17x8.5 wheel and am pretty happy with the results. tire pressure right around 18lbs with a 3-4 second burn out. I let them spin until I saw the first hint of smoke then release the brake and let the car roll out of it. Im still learning the whole drag racing thing my self but managed some 1.8 &1.9 60' times out of my mn6 01 vette launching around 3K RPMS need to up the RPMS next time out. the car has alot more in it just need to get some more passes. Very happy with the NT05Rs tho.
