It looks real clean which is why I ask. Did you cover it with some seam sealer or something similar at the seams?

This as a bias ply tire and can fit on your c5 with minor adjustments if any. The 26" tire is easier on the drivetrain and clutch and just enough to hold your power with practice and some finesse. You'll need skinnies too. I can help you get a drag radial to work if you had to but your best off with the setup mentioned above.
Hey rob, it looks like my options are a 28x10 bias ply or a radial. My car puts out just over 600rwhp and 490 torque with a 6 speed trains and McLeod dual clutch. I was told by many to not run a radial but I see many guys do. I'd be devasted if I broke something. Plan for the car is to test n tune for fun and maybe run one class this summer once a month. Car has upgraded output shafts and stronger tranny parts. What is the big difference with launching with a radial?

Drivetrain shock. The stiffer sidewalls tend to hit much harder than a bias ply tire. Radials are more prone to wheelhop. More clutch slip on the launch is beneficial but not to excess. All launches need to be smooth with our cars but more so with a radial. Launch rpm, throttle squeeze, and track prep are more critical on a radial.

Thanks for the input Gary. So is it safe to say that radials will work better with lower horsepower manual transmission cars? So many guys still use radials even though they know it's not as safe with a manual transmission, I'm just wondering why?

As Rob stated, skinnies must be used with bias ply tires. Many guys rather swap out the rears for a DR instead of an entire dragpack. In addition, it is more likely that a DR will be used more frequently on the street so a tire change is not necessary. As for lower HP cars, they break just as easily as high HP cars. Stay away from wheelhop and clutch dumps and DRs will work well. This is easier said than done.

Thanks for all the info guys. I ordered a full set of Hoosiers bias plys for the front and rear. I plan on raising the suspension to stock height and seeing how they fit. I'll be taking it to the track in the next month once I get new belts and a helmet. I'll post some pics soon.

Cheers!

Keep us updated, I still haven't bought my 28s as I keep getting told I will be slower with them, even at 850 or so on a 300 shot.

I'm late to the party. I ran the MT ET Street Bias Plys; 26x11.50x17 on 17x10 wheels for awhile and they worked great. Good enough to go 9's on a 1.58 60 foot with a stock LS1.

Here's a decent pass on 20 psi with a 1.60 sixty foot.

I have now switched to the Hoosier 28x10.50x17 slicks:

I put 28x10 Hoosiers on today and did a couple test burnouts and a short launch. After take the slicks off the back there was a decent amount of rubber on the inner fender so they are rubbing. My car was lowered on stock bolts and I recently had it raised a half inch all around to help but they still seem to rub. Here are some pictures. I'll post more after I modify the wheel wells.

About a half inch of clearance inside the wheel well.
