Default Will Hoosiers 28 x 17 bias ply fit a C5?

Has anyone had experience running a 28" tall bias ply on a 17" wheel in a stock C5 wheel well? I am planning on ordering a set of 28x10x17 bias plys for spring but not sure if they will fit. My car is currently lowered on stock bolts. I'm wondering if I'll have to adjust the suspension or wheel well?

They will hit the front part of the wheel well,Even more if your car is lowered.

Has anyone modified their wheel wells to avoid them from rubbing? The only bias ply tire that is available on a 17" wheel is the Hoosier 28x10. My car has a manual transmission and I was told to stay away from a radial. Anyone using a radial with 600+ rwhp and a manual transmission?

pull the wheel well liner and raise it up a little

A radial will not be your friend....

I'd rather see you run a 26 x11.5 ×16 Mt et street for now.
This as a bias ply tire and can fit on your c5 with minor adjustments if any. The 26" tire is easier on the drivetrain and clutch and just enough to hold your power with practice and some finesse. You'll need skinnies too. I can help you get a drag radial to work if you had to but your best off with the setup mentioned above.

Thanks Robz, the issue for this year at least is I already bought a set of 17" OEM wheels. I didn't have the $ to spend on CCW or Welds. I can't believe no one else makes a 26x10 or 26x10.5 or 11.5 bias ply tire for a 17" wheel. I was planning on using MT 26x11.5x17 but they stopped making them.

I have a pair of MT 26x11.5 - 17 ET Streets for sale if you are interested. Don't have a lot of wear on them and are in great condition.

Got ya.
I'd buy his tires and practice until you want to go for a drag pack.. You'll want skinnies too. You can run the 17" bias ply tires over inflated without skinnies but it's not worth the risk, IMO.

I cut out the front part of the wheel well alittle less from center out to the bottom and put a piece of sheet metal.I run 325/45-17 M&H Drag radials

I have a set of GTO spares and I'm gonna buy skinnies for the front soon. I want to do it right but for now I'm putting together a cheaper drag setup because going to the track is going to be a hobby and once in awhile deal. I don't want to beat on my car by drag racing it all the time. At least not yet haha.

How did you get the sheet metal to stay in place? Did you weld or rivet it? I see you pushed it back a good ways. I can't tell how it is staying in place on the front and back side
