1st time out on new build and 2nd time down the 1/4
Hey all,
this was my 2nd pass ever down the 1/4 mile strip, I know my launch and 60' time need alot of work. I have a 01 base model with H/C/I hasn't been on the dyno yet so not sure of the numbers. I did more of a aggressive street launch from the light as I only have around 500 miles on the clutch and engine build and didnt want to hurt it yet. Im running Bridgestone RE71R tires so I have some decent traction.
Just curious on any thoughts from some of the experienced drag guys on what my numbers tell you as far as power and possible e/t's once I start launching harder/better. Next time out I will probably launch around 3k rpms and see if I can get off the line without bogging down or spinning too much.

Are you using drag radials or Bias ply in the rear?
I ran dual disk clutch in my C-5. Typically launched between 3500 and 4900 depending on track conditions. Note, that was with a supercharger and about 650 RWHP and a RPM prepped trans.
With Head and Cam I would launch about 5k. Keep in mind I had Bias ply tires which absorb some of drive line shock. My 60's were in the 1.49 to 1.44 depending on track conditions.
Practice Practice Practice is how you will improve. Try to buy into some track rentals, it a good way to gain experience. 118 mph is in the 11's. How deep into the 11's you go will be dependent on how much your 60' times improve.

I need to go to a drag radial the 275/35R18s on the back I just cant seem to get to hook off the line. They are great street/autoX tires but I need some M/ts or NT05Rs. If i launch above 3K i seem to just knock the back tires off the thing any lower and it falls on its face. I need practice more then anything I ran again Saturday 4/30 and with 2.7-3.1 sec 60' times was running 12.7-12.8 at 118. I think some good DR's on the back and more passes and hopefully i can break 11s.
