Default Etown track rental feelers....

I was at a track rental yesterday at Etown, and was approached to see if I could get enough interest in having one there also. I did not discuss dates with them, only what factors would be involved with a rental. One thing I cannot influence with them is the cost, but some leaway with dates may be possible, so here is what they talked about.....the first thing is that all cars must have "chambered" mufflers...no straight thru or glass packs. If you have a turbo car you most likely would meet the noise requirements of a weekday rental....NEXT, would be that the rentals would be on either a Friday or Monday...as long as no other event is going on the same night at the track...and all rentals are daytime. They would go from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and only the driver pays...you can bring friends at "no charge".....NHRA safety rules will be in effect (if your not sure on them, I can fill you in, or you can buy a rule book or check NHRA.com).....TWO lanes will be prepped, and "side by side" runs will be allowed as well as singles.....FULL track crew will be supplied...ie: time card booth - Ambulance - Fire truck - starter & water box (with lane review during the day).....Rental will be open to 35 to 50 cars, so you have plenty of time to run - cool down - adjust your car or just watch.....The cost per car is $125 (1 driver) which includes a lunch (bring your own non alcoholic beverages), and a ground floor tower suite open (and if possible two suites will be available to watch, eat & stay out of the sun/cold depending on time of year), so girlfriends & wives are welcome.

As long as you meet the criteria for your car's performance (safety equipment & NHRA license/chassis cert) you can bring low 9 second or 8 second cars to run. Also, keep in mind the "Street Legal" rules for 2008 and newer cars that can run to 10.00 with only an approved fire jacket. If you need explanation of those rules, PM me and I'll list them on a "per car" basis. I almost forgot to mention...you pay at the track the day of the rental, so you don't have to worry about paying an either having a rain out or something altering your attendance plans.

As I mentioned in the beginning, I am only looking for who would be interested, and if enough are (min 35 cars remember) I will then discuss what dates would be available for us to rent. I know somebody will ask, so I'll mention now, the price stayes the same whether it's 35 or 50 cars, so don't assume if we get more cars then 35 the price will drop...it will not.

Please ask any questions so I can discuss all details with the track.

In case some of you don't know, if you have a 2008 or newer car you may qualify for the NHRA "Street Legal" rules. Those rules (which have to be discussed on a "per car" basis) say that without major mods, you can run to 10.00 with a coupe with only a firejacket when your faster then 11.50. The convertibles still have the 13.50 roll bar rule however. If you are unsure about how your car falls into the "rules" just PM or email me and we can discuss it.

Also, keep in mind that the term "muffler" means a chambered muffler, although some of the aftermarket straight thru mufflers will pass the "local DB" tests (I have a meter if you want to spec it).

Dennis, do these rules apply to just rentals? Or all the time? For example if one has a 2008 Z06 that is capable of running 10's from the factory would the owner be able to compete and run 10's with just a fire jacket?

Eric, it really depends on what mods, if any, are done to the 2008 ZO6. That is why I suggested contacting me "off forum" for specifics.

I've always dreamed of going to E-Town but we're not legal. Thanks for the heads up on the track rental though.

I just confirmed today that somebody else is running a rental this friday, May 13th and there should be some spots open. If your interested, contact me as the person running it wants me to update them if anybody wants to come. They are close to the max number of cars so space could be limited, but I personnally feel even if we got a half dozen cars, they would have room. The track is also having a special Friday night event open to Domestic cars only..!!!! So if you want a full day of racing, this is the day for you, and you don't have to deal with any Imports either. The rental price will not cover the night event, but the cost for it is very low (check Etowns website for details) and girls are free all day (unless they are driving) and even if you want to come and watch, it's OK. I will be there with my Camaro (you can see it in the background of my avatar) if you want to meet up or talk.

NOTICE....Etown Rental May 13, 2016

I've just been notified that the track rental for this Friday, 5/13/16, has been cancelled. There is no information on a rescheduled date for it. As I'm not the person running it I can only update everybody as information comes to me.

If anybody is interested, there is a re-scheduled track rental this Monday, June 20th and if your interested in attending contact me and I'll give you the phone number of the person running it (it is a private rental and not an Etown rental). At this time there should be a few spaces open and you must contact the co-ordinator as there are no "drive ins" allowed, you must be on the schedule.
