Default Mickey Thompson Pro Bracket Radial with manual trans?

Is anyone using the Mickey Thompson Pro Bracket Radial with a manual transmission? Im swapping to 15'' wheels on the rear of my 99 frc and will be looking for new tires. Before I ran a 315/35/17 hoosier drag radial. Had to slip the clutch alot to get it to work. Went a 1.55 60 with the stock 342. Now I have 410's and the 15's. Wondering how the pro brackets work. Especially the 3353r 26x10

You will need to slip the clutch as well no matter the tire. In addition, all radials will act similarly when looking at drivetrain shock. They tend to bite much harder, have a less forgiving sidewall and do not recover like a bias ply.

I figure it has to be better than a 17" radial. With the added sidewall and better compound/make of tire it should be good. I haven't ran a bias ply on the car. I really don't want to loose any mph. Buy I do want the car to be as fast as it can possibly be with what I have. I was wanting a 26x11.5x15 Hoosier QuickTime pro. But recently be gain thinking about this pro bracket tire. What's your thoughts?

with those gears I would be looking at a 28" tire unless you can spin the engine to the moon

No thanks on a 28. Back when I had Na 4.6 mustangs I ran 4:56-4:88 gears on 26" tires and it worked fine

I think I'd use the 26" QTP.
What's your power level?

I'd really shy away from any radial with a stick car, for all the reasons Gary mentioned.

It dyno'd 470 with 500 miles on it. Then changed a few small things that really shouldn't have mattered. Last year with the stock 342 and stock trans on a 17" drag radial it went 10.78 @ 130-132. So I'd say its making more power than it showed before.

That QTP should work extremely well with your combo. You will trap (1 to 1 1/2 mph) higher with the radial; however, you will most likely 60' and 330' much better with the bias ply thus running quicker. The bias ply will grow in height which can extend your rpm range. We only switched to 28s to comply with the rules of the race or I would have most likely ran 12"x26"x16" M&H slicks.
Good luck and keep us posted.

I've used the qtp on other cars in the past and they worked great. I'd like to use a slick but I sometimes run a street car event that requires a dot tire.

The QTP is a DOT tire. As far as I know.

It is. I would've tried to get by with the pro bracket radial if I could. NMRA factory stock uses it as a approved drag radial. But I think I'll just stick with what I've had luck with in the past and listen to you guys and get the qtp. I have to wait to get the flared quarters back from paint and mounted before I can choose a back space on the wheels. Now should should I stick with the 26 or do a 27x11.5 qtp?

Depends on your future plans. If you plan to run the car in its current configuration, then stick with a 26. If you significantly increase HP, then switch to a 27. Final RPM should dictate tire height.
