Fitment of a 28" Tall Tire on a C5
Since MT has discontinued there 16" line of drag radials I need to go to either a 28" tall tire w/17 inch wheel or a 28" tall tire w/15 inch wheel. I had been using the 27" tall tire w/16 inch wheel. I know that the 28" tall tire rubs the wheel liner and thus it needs to be modified. Does anyone sell an aftermarket wheel liner that will accommodate the taller tire or can someone show pics of the exact modifications that need to be done to the OEM liner.

Doesn't Hoosier make a 27" tire for a 16" wheel? I thought they did, but haven't looked in quite a while.
I think Paul has some detailed pics and ideas for modifying the liner for a 28" tire.
I'm pretty sure with a C6 cradle and LCAs it positions the tire a little farther back and that solves the issue all together, but that comes with a price...
I can't help, I've removed my liners.

Dave, just saw that. Well, you could try going with the Bias ply M&H or switch to a 17" rim in the rear. I don't know why MT stopped making 16" DR's or Bias plys either. I would imagine they were not selling enough of them to justify production.

Yeah I called MT. They said there is no demand for the 16" tires.

Hey Dave,I run the 325/45-17 M&H dragradial 28" tall,Awsome tire.I wish I saw this earlier I would took pictures of my fender well.I cut out about a 1/4 of the way up on the front side of the FW and put a piece of sheet metal there. The 28" tall tire changes the gear ratio alittle bit also.

I use (well I did) the M&H 325/45/17. They hook, very consistent. best was 1.31, I did have to cut about 1/2 the fenderwell liner out in the front. I have no pics. I cant really comment on how they are on the street as far as wear, because I trailered the car.
Dave, I have a set mounted on C4 ZR1 wheels, so they would stick out of the rear about 1/2 inch or so if you wanted to try them. I'm pretty sure Im not using them anytime soon. They are just sitting in the garage.
