Default Need help with tires

I've got a 2003 Z06 and I need to find some good tires for the strip. I was thinking I could get some good drag radials and toss them on the stock wheels I have.

I had some BFG DR's on some 17's for my old C5 that cut 1.5x 60' times.

What are you guys running?

A very common 'budget' set up for C5s/C5 Z06s (with stock sized rear brakes) is either stock C5 front wheels (17x8.5) or stock C5 Z06 front wheels (17x9.5) with 275-40-17 drag radials mounted on them.
Mickey Thompson, Nitto and Hoosier being popular choices of tire brand.
Many of us have had some great results on these combos.

How much can I expect to pay for those wheels?

Assuming that they are both OEM/factory rims and not aftermarket/replicas, the painted 17x8.5 C5 LS1 rims go for roughly $150.00 - $200.00 per pair and the 17x9.5 C5 Z06 rims go for roughly $250.00 - $350.00 per pair, depending on condition.

Or, you can find a used set of CCW Drag pack with slicks and skinnys.

M and H still makes a 16" x 28"H rear tire similar to the ET street.

I used a pair of Z06 knock off rims with 17" M/T DR's on them and they worked well while the car was just head and cam.

That would be the best I'm sure, but I've got to stick with a low budget right now. The tires aren't bad, its the new wheels I'm worried about.

I'm thinking I may have to start with DR's to get me to the track sooner until I can afford a straight up drag setup.
