Modifing heads
I recently gotta hold of a set of heads for FREE. (3911032 1.72/1.5 69cc)
I currently have a set of smoggers on my car now.(333882) Are these new heads worth keeping and what kind of machine work could i have done to them to pep it up? They would be going on a 350 block(3970014). :smash:

Re: Modifing heads (honaker)
My book said that they ar a 1968 307/327 70cc passenger and truck motor heads.
Just by the tiny port valve size. They would not be used for any performance use. Do they even have accessory holes tapped in the front?

I don't have all the head cc and stats and how well the chambers resist cracking or how big of springs you could machine for book anymore.
But I can tell you that the top of the line production double hump heads were right around 165 cc intake volume for their 2.02/1.60 In this day and age of cheap iron heads 180 cc is considered small. You just end up putting money into an inferior unit. Those heads of yours might have port volumes in the 140-150 cc range. So the porting work to get 2.02/1.60's to even flow would make them cost prohibative.
