Totally different. The ZZ4 uses a 4 bolt main, with forged crank and pistons where the stock L98 is a 2 bolt with cast crank and pistons.

That being said, I know several people making over 400hp with the stock bottom end without any problems what so ever.

What kind of hp are you looking to make, and are you staying natural or is there juice in the plans?

well I'm really reaching out there ..... but I need over 500hp ...no blower,no turbo....Ive got some dyno's of some over 500 hp 350 ci engines with some info on cam, heads, etc. can you make that kind of hp with out going carb ?
all these engines are carborated and keeping the hood original is a must. thanks for the reply. bert.

I think the ZZ4 comes with Hyper pistons. The 85 does have forged TRW pistons and 2 bolt mains. Of course you can get 500hp out of a 350, but you gotta push the limits of "streetablility". Additional cubes makes it a little easier to get there and still have decent street manmers...if that matters to you.

:nono: the '85 has forged pistons and a cast crank with 2 bolt main and is a very strong engine.
:bb Apologies - never want to give or get bad info. Is 85 the only L98 with forged pistons ??

What about the early 86' motors, I have always thought and heard all Vette engines came with forged pistons until the LT1 when they started using Hyper.
