I goofed up needs some advice on cam
I pulled a bonehead stunt, tore my engine that I just bought down and was really getting some stuff done, so I thought got in a hurry and flipped the motor over on the stand to pull the pan, and heard thunk thunk was like what the heck forgot to pull the lifters now I have a used cam and I have a pile of lifters that I have no idea which lifter bore they came out of. Any advice on putting them back in with minimal risk of flattening the cam ? Or should I just pitch it ? I really do want to reuse it as its a solid lift crane from way back and really ran and sounded mean. thanks for any help in advance and yes I know haste makes waste

IMO - I never kept track of which lifter bore I pulled my Crane hi-int lifters.
It might make a difference on some old high mile junk motor. Just think about it. The lifter is rotating. it is polished smooth.
