7115 crank thrust washer
#2
Burning Brakes
These high performance 427 cranks were forged so if you have a crack in the face of the thrust washer surface, merely welding and re-grinding the surface flaw isn't going to remove the internal grain flaw that started the crack to begin with.
If you do this, don't wail on the engine. You might be able to drive it around town, but don't subject the engine to a lot of high RPM/high load driving. The internal flaw will show up in a new location. Worst case is that the internal flaw extends to a journal that breaks under heavy load.
Given the availability of really good aftermarket forged crankshafts, I'd replace the unit personally. YMMV. Good luck!
