Fast Burn 385 to ZZ430 Upgrade
In 2014 I started acquiring the parts to upgrade my Fast Burn 385 to the ZZ430 Specs. Today that mission has been accomplished. I did some research on the heads that came with my Fast Burn and it turned out the very same part numbers are used on both the Fast Burn and the ZZ430. The valve springs are the same, the installed height is the same, the rocker studs are the same, holy cow they are the same head assemblies. I picked up some Scorpion 1.6 ratio full roller rocker arms (self aligning of course) and the GM Hot cam with all the gaskets. Next I took the time to have some parts polished like the intake, my electric fan shroud, plug wire looms, installed all new chrome bolts in everything that was polished. Install came out real clean. But folks let me be frank, I'm 53 and I've driven 6 sec 1/8 mile drag cars, this thing is SCARY FAST!!! I ran it once into third gear, pulled it into neutral, coasted for a sec while I caught my breath and I saw 110 mph on the speedo. Keep in mind this a C1, 1960 with factory 4:10 gears and close ratio 4-speed. Things happen real dang fast in the cockpit of this beast. I'll have some pics and hopefully a video from the local track. When I got home after the ride I parked the car and put away the keys to give myself some time to "evaluate" what I had created.
