Default Shifter advice

I want to get a new shifter and **** for my mother's 2002 Z28 (M6).

She drove my 2005 Vette (stock shifter and ****) and marveled at its precision and comfort compared to her Camaro. In fact, after driving my car she confessed that she can't drive her car for too long without the big round ball hurting her hand.

I think the **** is more significant to her than the shifter, but she deserves more from her son than a bit of plastic and leather.

Lots of options out there, but I don't want to pick something too high-effort. What do you folks suggest?

Not sure if it would fit your Mom's Z28 but I installed a Callaway short-throw shifter in my '08 coupe and I'm very happy with it. There are also great shifters made by MGW. Something should work.
Here's a look at the shift **** I installed. Good luck.

Default Update: ****-handle compatibility?

Thanks for the advice. I also checked out Camaro forums, and the MGW shifter was highly praised.

My new question: does a stock C6 **** use 16mm threads (as found on the MGW and it seems most other aftermarket F-body shifters), or am I going to need to apply some improvisational engineering?

Good cheap option and one of the shortest and most precise combo's I've come across in 10+ years dealing with 4th Gens: Stock Hurst shifter with a UMI or other short stick. Whole thing can be done for under $100 and is WELL worth it.

For the shift ****, pick up a Firebird/Trans Am shift ****. Can't be beat. Small, but not too small, fits well in the palm of the hand, ect. Another option is the hurst shift **** that came with the factory hurst shifters, like the Firebird **** only with a "H" logo on it.
