1969 w 327/powerglide..school me..
How good or bad is this combo and how hard to swap in a TH350... I heard the swap is pretty easy as the model year 69 had the TH350 as an option and the two transmissions were the same size and had the same spline count.
Average cost?

Are you going to do the work yourself, or have it done? If your research is indeed correct, and the lengths of the two trannies are the same, it's a pretty basic R&R. I would think a good tranny shop could do it in a couple of hours, at home, maybe three....

Since the title of your thread mentions a 327, I assume you want a complete stock setup. A Level 2 stock - 350TH w/torque converter will set you back about $1800...will handle up to 400HP. Level 3 @ $2500 to 550HP. Level 4 @ $3700 to 700HP. Also, you'll need to determine the proper tailhousing length - 6" or 9" for a direct swap before ordering, otherwise you'll have to alter the drive shaft. It all depends on what you want to do...street stock or strip

This is a fact finding mission as I may be able to pick up a very nice daily driver..
Does have the 327/Powerglide..
I would have all work done IF the powerglide is sketchy.. I had a 68 Impala with 327/TH350, so I am not familiar with how the p/glide performs...

The power glide is basically missing first gear, so it feels like you are taking off in second, and then you have one shift into high gear. The turbo 350 with a short tail shaft will bolt in, and does use the same cross member, trans mount, and slip yoke, and I am pretty sure the drive shaft is the same length, but don't quote me on that. The other thing is the t350 uses a kick down cable that will require adding a bracket to the carb to hook up, and probably some kind of minor add on to the carb for it to clip to. You could probably swap the trans in 3 hours, but by the time you round everything up, and get it all working you will have at least a day into it, or your mechanic will.
