I know this will be a real long short, but pull up the lower rear seat cushions. They used to stuff the build sheet into the seat's springs, and you might get lucky. Other than that, I can't offer any concrete suggestions, as I think by that model year, the "Z" was just an option package, as opposed to a separate model, however a verifiable 350 engine would be a good sign.

There's been an 80 z in our family since 1984. Build sheet was under rear seat but was lost.

Something that I sometimes see not switched out on a clone is taillight lenses on z had black trim.

If the car was built in Norwood it would say Z/28 on the trim tag. If it was built in Van Nuys no designation. Easy to tell which plant it was built in-just look at the vin and if it has an "N" in it, it means Norwood. Norwood tags are easy to decipher. Hope this helps....... Throw the first set of 7 digits(including letters) up here and I'm sure someone here will decode it for you. Just a thought.
