69 Firebird fuel tank replacement
Working on my buddies 69 Firebird, we had the Q-Jet rebuilt but this car hasn't ran in about 4 years, also sat for about 4 years before that. Has original fuel tank and lines so I think the best bet would be to replace the tank and pump but I'm not sure which tank to get.
I believe he wants to keep the stock style mechanical fuel pump so are the lines a pain to replace? I suppose the straps, tank, sending unit, lines are in order so any input appreciated....this is a convertible car also.

My suggestion would be to look up "Ames Performance". They specialize in Pontiac parts. You don't say where you, or the car are located or where it was driven/stored, so rust may or may not be an issue. Also, are you looking to install "exact reproduction" fuel lines, that follow every contour of the floor/frame, or just some means of getting fuel from the tank to the engine?

There really isn't a rust issue, just age of the lines. There is fuel in the tank so that's likely turned to varnish. I could bend some lines in a pinch, but I would like an exact fit tank and lines that match the OE lines if possible.
I haven't crawled up there in awhile so I don't know where the anchor points are for the lines. Do they share the same path as the brake lines?

The brake lines to the rear, have gone down the driver's side of the car, on any of the many GM cars that I've owned, and usually GM ran the fuel lines up the same side of the car that the fuel pump was on, and on Pontiacs, that's the driver's side. I used to have a '77 Trans Am with a Pontiac 400, but since I never drove it in winter, I never had reason to question the fuel/brake lines, so I can't say with 100% accuracy, which side of the car the fuel line ran. However, if I had to bet, I'd say driver's side.
For the fuel lines, if Ames doesn't have them, try Inline Tube...

Fuel lines generally run on the right side while the brake lines run down the left side. Check Classic Performance. They have everything for everything GM. Fuel tanks are cheap for those -F,A,X,& B body cars.
