68 Idle Solenoid Bracket
You could try Restoration Parts Oultet run by Sal Carbone. Phone is (860)649-2241. He carries a lot of difficult to find parts. His e-mail is rpovette@aol.com. At least the phone and e-mail were good about a year ago.

Spend the big bux. Put in a proxy bid of, lets say, $2000.00.
I'm sure you'll win it.
You "owe me". I want a LARGE Coke the next time I see you. Don't try to cheap out with one of those "small" 12 ounce drinks either.
Extra ice too, please. Chuck

Yes sir Chuck.
You shall have it.
Were you at the N E Regional, I was there both days and if you come back for the National in the same location, I will hand deliver that Coke.

I'm going to the Boston National, so I'll see you there.
I didn't read the entire thread on the NCRS DB, but I "THINK" the discussion had something to do with the fact that the "real" bracket didn't resemble the drawing in the AIM. Chuck

After reading all the different posts about this bracket on the NCRS Board, I'm not even certain anymore if the Corvette was built by GM.
I am just as confused now as when I started.
See you at the Nationals, Coke in hand.

This is the correct quadrajet bracket for a 68-69 Vette, pics can be found in the Corvette Fact Book in the 68-9 sections. I can scan them if you like. The ebay bracket is not for the 68-69 Vette, he states in the auction the SOLENOID is the correct one, no mention of the bracket usage. I am sure that solenoid was used all over the GM spectrum, but THAT IS NOT the correct bracket for what Kurt is looking for!!!!! For those interested, this complete setup is for sale, you won't find any more complete (because it is all there!!!).

I saw the eBay listing. Solenoid is correct; bracket is wrong. Pictured above looks correct to me.

Bruce,
Thanks for the update. I know you are correct and for that reason I did not bid on the rusted solenoid and clamp on e-bay after it went past $100.00
I stayed up until 2 AM watching it as I was going to bid for the clamp but then realized it was wrong, and I don't need the solenoid as I have a brand new one in the box.
The information I have received today form a number of sources and also last night is that my car does NOT use this solenoid, only the big block cars, so I may be selling mine on eBay in the future.

Kurt, I'm with you. I don't think the 68 smallblocks came with the idle solenoid.
Does the third edition 68-69 NCRS Judging Manual call for it on the 68 small blocks?

Bryan,
I can't find anything about the solenoid in the 3rd edition of the NCRS Judging Manual but maybe I am not looking in the right place. I checked the carb section on pages 43 & 44 and found no mention of the solenoid.
(Found nothing in the second edition either)

I just received my 68-69 third edition. It is just like the 2nd edition. With all the doubts about the idle solenoid on the 68 a/c small blocks I think that it should be amended. Also, both editions read that- not all 69's had this bracket. I wonder if it is a typo and should read 68's instead
