66 rear end date code

66 rear end date code
I picked up my first corvette recently. It is a 66 427 roadster project that has a small block rear end, AM 6-13-66. My car build date is St. Lewis, G 18 (March 18). In looking for a correctly dated rear end (and big block), how much should the date preceed the car to be classified correct? I haven't been able to find any info concerning the rear end. Thanks!

http://www.ncrs.org/ The NCRS '66 Judging Manual will help and provide the required codes for what you're after.
As a rule of thumb, your differential should predate the car's time/build code by two to six weeks, possibly longer.

2-6 weeks is "typical", but anywhere up to six months will get full judging credit; however, transmission and axle "numbers" aren't checked in NCRS Flight Judging. The U-bolt inner yokes will get a deduction on a BB car.
