New drain plug, if that won't stop the leak, then your threads may have seen their better days. Heli Coil may be your best bet.

I had a leak in my drain plug for over a year. Tapping the hole didn't help, oversized drain plug didn't last long, finally had to go with a new oil pan (about $60). No leaks any more.

I had a small leak from my drain plug that i could not alter no matter what trick I tried: several different drainplugs, washers, o-rings, dental floss!! finally I had it at my mechanic's shop and we put it up on a lift and took a real close look at the area and he showed me how the drip was coming from a very tiny crack right in front of the drainplug! MJ

while it sounds like it should be an easy fix (new plug, new washer, teflon tape, heli coil, etc.) sometimes this stuff just doesn't work. When I first got my 427 it leaked and I tried all of the above fixes to no avail. I finally pulled the pan and took it to the machine shop, had them slightly weld up around the hole, re-drill and tap and VOILA - NO MORE LEAK - and it cost far less than a new OEM pan

Well Okay, I'll chime in here.
As a Machinist and 25 year specialist in "Fixing the Impossible" for research laboratories................
NO HELI-COILS! They are a poor solution for many (most?) applications.
DEFINITELY NOT FOR DRAIN PLUGS!
The BEST Solution for this and frankly ALL thread repairs are TIMEserts.
NOT cheap but the best. The will NOT "push thru" or rotate back out with
the plug/fastener like wire inserts.
BUT to the matter at hand........your drain plug.
You need to ascertain if the thread is straight. If things got crooked,it will
never seal on the washer. IT can be straightened, but full view will really
be needed. Hard to do up on Jackstands, etc.
OKAY,.....I did just last weekend fixed same said situation in of all things
a 1972 FORD F750 School Bus/ Motorhome.
Before I did the Time Sert install , I used the Oversize and DOUBLE Oversize drain plugs that have the thread cutting leading edge on them. I got them at Advance Auto parts if i recall correctly.
First one cut the new thread lightly......I didn't like the thread I saw,
so I put O.S. # 2 in and viola' a perfect thread. It sealed perfectly.
I did this despite having all the time sert sets.
THis was an "Offsite" repair job and the parts store was closer than home.
But thus was a $10.00 parts cost to my customer.
SO by all means I can recommend attempting the "Multi-Oversize" plug method.
They are available in 3 oversizes of the same plug.
1/2 " -20 in this application of mine.
Good Hunting and Good luck!
