Default September 27-SE Michigan-Fall Tour-New Boston-Saline to Dexter Cider Mill

9.26.14: Please note new departure time of 10:30am and read new details in the last post regarding updated parking in Chelsea!

Due to the Purple Rose Theatre crowd that descends upon the Common Grill we want to get in and out of there before they arrive.

George: if you could please notify your CTS-V group, I would really appreciate it!

The world-famous annual Dexter Cider Mill Cruise is set for Saturday, September 27th.

Due to demands on my personal calendar this year, the cruise will be a "fall" cruise in late September as opposed to a color tour in mid-October.

Deb: if you could post this on your Facebook page too, that would be very helpful!

We will gather together for an afternoon of cruising with Mother Nature’s cooperation. This cruise will be an all back roads ride through the scenic Michigan countryside. And as always, the caravan will travel in one pack, and no one is left behind to fend for themselves.

Dexter is a very quaint town that resembles Mayberry RFD. During the fall season, there are several festivals going on in the main Town Square.

The Dexter Cider Mill has been in existence for over 100 years, and has the great unfiltered cider we all enjoyed as a kid. The cinnamon doughnuts are greasy and sugary, and they also sell the usual wide fare of apple related items in the store. Here’s the link to their website: http://www.dextercidermill.com/

When we arrive Dexter, we will drive and park as close to or on the property of the cider mill as we can.

Here’s the itinerary:

Cruise In Date: Saturday, September 27th.

If it rains, there could be an impromptu cruise on Sunday, September 28.

Cruise Location Starting Point: Huron High School parking lot. Address: 32044 Huron River Drive, New Boston. (Across the street from Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery. If you need assistance confirming the location, just email me at luvmyc6@comcast.net, Mapquest the address or stop by my house, I'm just a stone's throw away from Huron High School! )

Mingle Time/Assembly of Caravan/Line Up of Cars: 10:00 am. (yes Steve, I took your advice this year and scheduled an earlier departure so we have plenty of time to mingle at the cider mill)

Depart for Cruise:10:30 am.
If we have stragglers, and someone is running late because of traffic problems, or you are lost, please call me on my cell at 313-220-4949, and we’ll accommodate you if the wait isn’t too long!

Stop for lunch at The Common Grill-Chelsea at 12:00 pm
Address: 112 South Main Street Chelsea, MI 48118

http://www.commongrill.com/

End Rally Point: The Dexter Cider Mill.

Hope to see you there!

Don't forget to add how many are coming so I can give the restaurant the final count.

Anyone know how to get in contact with George and Gloria? I don't do the Facebook thing....

Just for information, Willis Rd is in REALLY bad shape, I know I live on it. You could possibly stay on Willow Rd to Platt then to Willis, limiting the amount of time you have spend on Willis, but I have not driven Willow or Platt recently to know how bad they are. Something to think about.

Thanks for letting me know that! I'll do a dry run in that area the week before. If I need to take an alternate route then that's what I'll definitely do. Last thing I need is for someone to take their Vette on a crappy road and bottom out or let rocks scrape the bottom or sides.

Willis Rd is the most scenic route. The railroad finally fixed the road over the train tracks, miracles do happen.

Changes/additions made!

Called the restaurant yesterday and confirmed our dining reservations.

There is a U of M home game that day with Minnesota but game time is TBA at this point.
