For a Chicago visitor: Buying spare parts over the counter?
Hi guys
I will be visiting Chicago for a few days starting Monday, coming over from Europe. I'm looking for a few parts for my 69 (interior, electric, etc.) and was hoping to find a "walk-in store" in the greater Chicago area. My Google search came up only with Corvette Mike so far.
I don't mind driving a bit - so if any of you have a recommendation for me, that would be much appreciated.
Many thanks
Martin

That is OK. I do the same thing. More than I wish to admit!
They have a museum of mainly Corvettes on their campus. They stock many parts. Anything they do not have in stock, they most certainly can ship to you.
They are less than 3 hours south of Chicago. Interstate 57 all the way.
Their Big Funfest Show is happening the weekend of September 18-21. Too bad you will not be here. One of the largest Corvette shows in the USA.

Mid America does not stock many parts for your car. They are a big accessory vendor. D&M Corvette in Downers Grove IL may have some of what you are looking for. If you can call ahead and John in parts may be able to pre order what you need. I have not used Corvette Mike so I don't know their parts room inventory. Corvette Central, in Michigan is a vendor who stocks more old corvette parts. They are only a few hour drive out of Chicago. Lectric Limited for wiring harnesses may allow for direct pick up of product, they are in a suburb of Chicago. Good luck.

Corvette Central (http://www.corvettecentral.com/) is about an hour and a half from Chicago, around the lake into Michigan. I have no idea if they actually have a store that you can buy parts from but I'm sure you could call/email ahead and ask.

What are you looking to buy for it? There is also a corvette salvage company http://www.vette2vette.com/ they will have C3's at times as well.
