Default The verdict is in on my LS7

Its toast Dropped a valve at 35mph in third gear this is what it looks like
The head

The block even the water jacket is broke so it can't be rebuilt

that sucks Don! chevy should step up and buy you a new ls7 . there is definitely a problem with the ls7 they don't want to admit to a major design flaw .

Its not just the LS7s Johnny they are starting to see the valve guide problems in the LS9s now. There should have been a recall

I just got rid of my 2007 Z06 with 50,000. I bought it new in October of 2006. I never had any issues with the motor and it was all stock. I drove it hard the first couple of years at autocrosses and track events but after that it was just the ocassional "spirited drive".

Again, good luck with the repairs, hopefully it will be better than new!

Good luck!

Just looking briefly, they get AMG SCV8 and V12TT used motor prices for those LS7s. Hopefully you can get a block cheap and build up a nice setup. The bright side is you can do some upgrades during the build!

That's pretty nasty. Sorry to hear about the unfortunate demise of your motor. Any signs prior to failure that you would notice in hindsight?
