Default Stasek Chevy--feedback

I am looking for feedback on the Stasek (Bill) Chevy dealership in Il. I am seriously thinking of buying a C7 from them---either one on their lot or ordering one---, but I am in MA, and know nothing about them. Do any of you folks have actual experience with them that you would be willing to share? When they make an offer on a trade-in, will they stand by it? Any experience with them in buying a car that was shipped (and I will have to ship my trade to them as well)? I know many our our fellow corvette owners have bought cars from these dealers that ship around the country, but I have never done so, and I am nervous about the process.

My dealings on-line with them so far have been excellent. They came across as very professional and upfront.

Thank you.

I have purchased and traded with them twice, nothing bad to report. They are the largest Corvette dealer in the Midwest and have a sales rep here on the forum, I'm sure he will chime in shortly.

Best wishes with your new Vette!

Thanks for the post! We are very familiar with out of state transactions and shipping out of our area, also if you have a trade no worries, we can appraise it through email/phone and the number you see on the paperwork reflects the trade amount you'll receive before you ever swap cars with us. Please contact me directly via PM or the info below if you have any additional questions I can answer for you.

Have a great day -

I would not ever buy from them or recommend them to my worst enemy. If you do, make sure you have car inspected, because when I went to look at a brand new Z06 a couple years ago, Bob Clegg took me to some warehouse to show me the car and it was covered with swirl marks, scratches and dust. It appeared to me that they must have washed it with a dirty mitt upon arrival and then stored it and several others in the same location. Both Z06's I saw were in the same horrible condition.
Then they tried to lowball my trade after having already seen it once earlier in the day. PM me for a longer more detailed description. They do have a lot of inventory, but I would NEVER buy anything from them. The sales manager, which I can't remember his name, but had black hair and a mustache said very rudely to me...."if you don't think our trade price is fair wait until you see what Rick Conti offers." I did and he gave me $3000 more and $1500 cheaper price on a pristine Z06.

TitleTaker!

Good to see you on the forum again! I've tried to respond to you in the past with no response on your end and clearly at this point you just want to repeat yourself where ever possible so I'll repeat my reply from before. You know, it is a shame, if you waited 8 days it would have been the one year anniversary since our last interaction. Also how long ago did you have the issue? I've been on the Stasek team for 4 years now and don't recognize a description of a manager with those features, was it really farther back than that?

Well as always have a great day!

Brent, wish I could remember his name, but he was either the used car manager or general manager, but he was in his late forties, early fifties, short with dark hair and and mustache. You know the old saying, treat people right they will talk, treat people wrong and they will continue to talk much longer. OP asked for any feedback and I am happy to give my feedback. I honestly don't see how reaching out to me years after the fact is going to somehow make my feelings any better....your organization wasted my time and pulled what I consider shady tactics. If you have changed your approach, then I am sure there will be many more people that will support your business. Do you still store cars in an offsite warehouse? Is anything I am saying somehow untrue in your opinion, or are you just trying to somehow make me look bad for sharing honest feedback from an actual experience I had with your dealership?

Thanks for the reply, we do still store many of our cars at an offsite location but it's changed over the years, it's now a more permanent situation that we've transformed into a Corvette showroom (the cars are buffed and waxed in their new home at the Corvette Showroom until they are sold). I'm not trying to invalidate the experiences that you've had in the past but merely trying to shed light on the fact this didn't happen 6 months ago, a year ago, two years ago, longer than I know, but to make a comment like the following "I would not ever buy from them or recommend them to my worst enemy." is quite a strong statement to make when two people doing business simply can't come to an agreement, and you found that our car had swirl marks and was dusty. Bob Clegg is a fantastic salesman and terrific individual both as a colleague and friend and it pains me to read your response when you portray the experience like it was an attempt shady business practices. You don't accidentally sell 200 new Corvettes a year and you don't do it without repeat and referral business. If you'd give us another shot we'd love to earn your business in the future, if not, that's okay too. We built a large part of our Corvette business on our service to customers, unfortunately you never got to a point where you could experience it. Outside of the fact we have free hand washes for all of our corvette customers plus a free buff and wax twice a year, I also have an enclosed trailer that will pick up and drop off a customers Corvette for service within 50 miles of the dealership for life!

I will clarify and say Bob was very nice and professional, but he wasn't the one making the calls. Upon further thought, those are harsh words and I do know that you guys offer "benefits" to the Corvette buyers. I have bought 7 Corvettes in my adult life and unfortunately feel the experience with Stasek was a terrible one and I truly left there feeling like I was trying to be taken advantage of and I obviously don't go around bashing people or businesses for the fun of it. I have been on this forum for several years and I'm sure several people can vouch for my character.

I've purchased many cars from Stasek over the years and they've always been professional, honest, and friendly. Very nice folks to deal with.

Brent,

So you know---he sent me a PM yesterday and did not rip you guys---he told me his experience, but also went out of his way to say 1) his friend had a great experience buying a car from you guys; and 2)that his experience was a while back and may not be reflective of the current situation.

Recently purchased a used 2010 corvette convertible from them and they were very professional and fantastic to deal with. I would recommend them based upon my experiences.

I have never bought a car from them but I take my ZR1 there for service and am happy with both their service and professionalism.
