Default Chicago brothers and sisters

My ARH exhaust will be in this Wednesday. I'm from New Orleans and don't know anyone here in Chicagoland just yet. Would anyone be willing to help me with the install? I have tools, just don't have jacks or a lift... If I were home I have friends with shops, but I'm not.... So anyone? I can bring the beer!

Call speed inc in Schaumburg 847-891-0767. They do everything there, dyno and tune. Good guys too!

Thanks, but I'm just looking for someone to help, maybe for some beer or something, but not looking to pay anyone to do it for me. Also would help me to get out of this hotel I've been stuck in since June and meet a couple car people in the area.

Okay well good luck with that. You are asking for allot. You have no lift, no friends there. Installing those headers is not a easy job. It will take you at least 6 hours if you never done them before. What are you going to do about a tune afterwards?

And if need be I'll just go buy the stuff I need and do it alone, although I would rather hang out with some people and drink some beer while doing the install.

I understand what you are saying. If you don't find anyone to help you, where are you going to do this at? The parking lot of the hotel?

Why do you want to do this yourself on a 60K+ vehicle? It will take you all day on your back, not to mention a pain in the ***. I would not attempt to this alone if I were you.

For the same reason I smoke in my $64k car, the same reason I already have 7k miles on it in less than 4 months. Because it's mine and I'm going to enjoy doing what I love. What is the point in paying for something that I am more than capable of doing myself whether I can afford it or not? Now if it was something that I am not capable of doing myself, such as tuning the car of course I'll bring it to a professional, but I've been enjoying working on my own vehicles my entire life, and just because I can afford to pay someone else to do something doesn't mean I should.

I agree.
It sorta like therapy and de-stressing.

I'm the only one that works on my '67. I know it is done right, without any shop short cuts to get to the guys car.

I don't have a lift, but I have a chain hoist.

I don't have an opinion on this (it's your car, after all), but please make sure to do the install on a flat, level surface.

I don't want to read a news story about a guy that did an install in a blacktop hotel parking lot and got squashed.

Best of luck!

I don't think he is buzzkill, it's just this job is a pain in the a$$ doing it without a lift. I love working on my car, but trust me I will not do this without a lift. Have a great weekend!

If my vette wasn't in pieces in my garage, I would love to help.

Also, this is a easy job. Don't get what all the fuss is about. Should take 2 hours (3 if you take your time).

I've been able to get the stock system out and headers/xpipe in in about 45 minutes. But, practice makes perfect.

I am confused by some of the don't turn a wrench on your own car attitudes around here. I do my best to do all the work on my car that doesn't require special tools that I don't own (like AC recharge). I have a set of headers for my C5 that I need to install in the next month myself.

And the why do it on a $60k car? I'd rather do it on a $60k car, the chances of things coming off and going back on easily is much higher than it will be on my old beat up C4 that is worth a small fraction of that.

If you don't find a place or even if you do, let me know. I may be able to help out either way (with an extra set of hands, or getting my garage cleaned up enough to do work, which I have to do for myself as well). This month is getting kind of busy for me.

Sounds like no matter what you do, you should get staticki to show up. : )
