A few weeks ago I posted a thread asking about why my 05 C6 automatic would not shift out of park on ocassion. I received great info from Forum members about the solenoid on the shifter that had issues in the early C6 years. One particularly helpful fellow supplied a detailed instruction sheet that showed how to bypass the solenoid so that the shifter would not lock in park. Last week a mechanic friend of mine and I did the task and I'm thrilled to say that the problem is solved! The only thing that I didn't anticipate was that I can move the shifter even if the car isn't running, but I don't see that as an issue. The hardest part of the repair was getting the radio surround disconnected and out of the car, but we were able to get it out without breaking it.
Thanks to all who offered advice. I'm more confident that I can take my car out without having issues with the shifter.
