Default Door county road trip ideas

Hey folks,
I'm planning a long weekend road trip and would like to visit Door County, WI in our vert.

If you have any ideas for places to stay or sites to see, please chime in.

Thanks!

on the way up or the way back , you need to visit Lambeau Field in Green Bay. take the stadium tour, the packer hall of fame is reopening soon and dining is available in the atrium. packer pro shop as well.
national railroad museum is in green bay as well. very interesting place.
in door county, many, many choices for dining and for places to stay. play golf at peninsula park or the ORchards of Egg Harbor. drive to the northern tip and take the ferry for the day to Washington Island. stop at the orchards, farm markets , Door county coffee company, couple of winerys. avoid the weekends for the rest of the season, they are jammed.

Thanks Ed!
I was looking at both egg and sister harbors, found out there's some construction in sister harbor that's not conducive to relaxation in town.

Not that big of a Packers fan... but it sounds like a cool stop over which is on the list.

You could take the ferry to Washington Island for a burger at Nelsen's Hall Bitters Pub.

Hit Wilsons for some good food, root beer and ice cream in Ephriam.

Al Johnson's (in Sister Bay) has the best Swedish pancakes I've had in my life. I have seriously considered making the drive up there just for them. Plus they have goats on the roof which is kinda cool.

Hit a fish boil if you get time. It's a fun tradition there. Old Post Office had good food too.

We stayed in Ephriam last time which seemed to be perfect since it was in the middle of Sister Bay and Fish Creek which were the main cities we visited often.

Wish I had my Vette when we went. Seems like the perfect car for a trip up there. Have fun!

Thanks QuickSilver and smokingZ51! Fish boil sounds great along with the trip out to Washington island. I appreciate the ideas and will post some pics after we return.

Just remember, if you like a few cocktails, Ephraim is a dry community.

Fish Creek is a nice town. The owner of the large corner store filled with great leather coats is a Vette owner.

You can do some salmon fishing, but the charters are kind of pricey.

Personally, I find that word offensive. My wife and I, and another couple, took the "boat" to Washington Island a number of years ago. We rented scooters and rode all over the island and had a blast. We met the captain of the boat at a restaurant near the dock and struck up a conversation with him. Very nice man. We got to ride in the wheelhouse with him on the return trip.

Default Thanks !

Thanks All for the ideas!

The road trip was great as was the weather, 100% top down weather.

We went all the way up to Washington Island and had a blast. Stayed at Sturgeon Bay one night which is a neat town. I was amazed at the yacht builders there.. I think johnson builders was the name. Holy COW! the ship that was getting built was insanely HUGE. We had a stop over in port washington @ schooners pub, great view on their deck for lunch.

Here's a shot of the lions den state park - we got out the stretch and enjoy the view.
