If I were you, I would take your car to either:

BlackDog Racing (BlackDog Speed Shop)
HP Performance

I would never suggest Libertyville...

No one wants to pay a higher price for service, but the two shops I mentioned above will work with you on price.

So here's my results... I ended up ordering a Mcloid rst and flywheel upon doing so EVERY shop wanted to raise their labor prices on me...needless to say my car is ripped apart in my garage and I am doing it myself. When I can save over $200 on a clutch by getting it offline I'm sorry I will buy it that way. Your labor rate is still plenty profitable at anywhere between $85-$100 per hour...I may be young but I wasn't born yesterday

To be completely honest I maybe have 6 hours in so far with pulling everything out swapping out a differential and disassembling the torque tube this is including pulling my headers. This has been a really simple process. It looks so intimidating with so many things coming out but the hardest part was getting the stock mufflers off. I'M DOING THIS ON JACK STANDS TOO.

I would like to know how you're treated at Blackdog as well as the quality of their work.

I follow their Z28's in the Pirelli World Challenge series, so they're on my radar once the warranty's up on my car. I want to take my car to a shop that I can trust.

Well I started doing it myself so I have no experience with blackdog. Joel, I think that was his name, was really helpful when I had questions. Only complaint is that labor prices went up when I wanted to bring my own parts. I understand how shops work with profit on parts but if you can't get or match the prices elsewhere I'm not going through you.

He did work on my 82 before I bought it. The receipts were nuts and the car ran like crap. I spent the better part of the next year fixing all the stuff they screwed up. Steer clear!

Probably should be noted that this guy had this work done back in May.... situation looks to totally be a mechanical over rev and now he is blaming the shop.

Has anyone used D & M Corvette in Downer's Grove, or Corvette Mike's in Burr Ridge?

Opinions and experiences with either?

Thanks,

-Ray

Ray I did not like D & M but a coworker with a C3 does like them, I don’t think anybody here uses them but if they do or did maybe someone will say something. I have not used Corvette Mike and I don’t know anybody that has.

I do like Bill Kay in Lisle and have heard good thing about Dralle, closer to you. Did you ever use Phillips or Apple? All these dealerships are very expensive though.

I used Straightline to install an Edelbrock E-force on my C7. Great guys to deal with. Simple process. No issues. They even do Edelbrock warranty work (if needed). I purchased my car at Phillips in Frankfort and I know that they WILL NOT do any mods on a Corvette. Service manager made it clear that they will not even consider installing anything not factory. They have serviced my car a few times and I am happy with the work they have done.

kevin at libertyville seemed very knowledgable and was nice.. they qouted me 1100 for labor. Im gonna use that 1100 and purchase a lift and do it myself.

my car was tuned at speed inc, and the tuner knows his stuff but the customer service was very unprofessional and lacking. I wont say i wouldnt go back but id have to be heavily enticed.

I had no luck with local shops, one was simply lack of communication while the other one tried to talk me out of doing work, lol. Decided to trailer the car to Dallas, TX :P
