Driving your Vette, Supercar, Sportscar or other Muscle Car in January part VVVVVIII
After several days in Ft. Lauderdale where it was 84 degrees and sunny everyday when I came home today, Saturday Jan. 2, 2016, in my defiance to winter, I took my 2009 Viper out of its bat cave and decided to take a drive out to Chicago Motor Cars in St. Charles, IL, where I bought my Viper, and drooled over some supercars in their impressive inventory (Ford GT, Ferraris, Lambos, Porsches, 1000HP modified Hellcat Challenger, Corvettes, etc.)
The main road I drove on North Ave. (Rt. 64) west of Rt. 83 from Elmhurst to St. Charles, was mostly dry with just minimal salt powder and of course the sun was shinning with balmy (not) temps of 30 degrees. Driving through some side streets around my home certainly presented me with dirtiers road and some wet spots (b.c of melting snow), however still barely within my hardcore winter/Viper comfort level. BUT, life is too short and it was great to kick of the first weekend in January in my Viper and she still looks clean with her silver paint. I will be out again in it tomorrow just stealing another day from old man's winter. If I can continue driving into mid January that would be 10 straight months (starting with mid March 2015) that my weekend warrior Viper will have been driven on the weekends with high performance summer tires on it!

January 3rd, 2016, cloudy and a bit cold with dirty roads, but not enuff to stop me cruising this afternoon and putting about 50 miles on the highway on my Viper. Gotta love silver, 1 minute with the California dust bug is all it took to get her looking clean! Honestly, despite the dirty roads and some good frozen salt powder things were relatively dry on the main thorough roadways and car did not get that dirty driving all Sat. and Sunday afternoon, to bring in the New Year the right way (with a smile on my face)! Filled her up with fresh full, gave the bottom panels a quick once over with a California dust bug, and she still look clean and real purty!

No Viper driving weather for me this weekend, way too wet, but I'll take the 1 inch of snow versus the 5 inches that was predicted, all day long here in the west suburbs of Chicago.

Finally turned really COLD here in Chicagoland for next few days, but I have to admit its been an easy winter so far and I really hope that trend continues.
My fun, go, REAL fast cars, are currently grounded for the first time in almost 10 months!

Well... I got snow down here...
And that 4 lane road that was underwater... it's coated with mud and that snow didn't make a dent in it...
I gotta look for a new route... I-55, I am coming to Chicago!

You better pack your warmest clothes my friend as its 3 degrees above 0 right now in Chicagoland.
GOOD NEWS though, it will be 39 degrees in 2 days and winter is at least half way over now.

The super COLD weather in Chicago has pretty much frozen the salt powder to the roadway and its been dry enough to drive your fun car the last weeks or so, but personally, I just have not had enough opportunity to take out my baby our it would have been out the past weekend. BUT, if it remains dry out the rest of the week and no more salt added to the roads, then this weekend she comes out to play (again)!
Two hours later I see we are get a 3/4 inch coating of snow that is falling just enough for more salt and to screw up the next week or so!

Had the Viper out this afternoon, perfect opportunity to keep that battery charged too!
Gotta love it, January 30th, 46 degrees out, and Viper out, first time that I can remember that I brought one of my go fast toys out this time of the winter!
Lets hope Feb. is an easy one also and then its all downhill from there!
