October 22-SE Mich-Fall Tour-New Boston-Chelsea-Dexter Cider Mill
Yes boys and girls, I'm sorry to say but it's getting to be that time of year again so....get ready to shine your Vettes and CTS-V's, and rev your engines for the-end-of-the-driving-season world-famous Dexter Cider Mill Cruise which is set for Saturday, October 22nd!
I will be posting this event to my Facebook page as well. (yes, I finally relented and have a Facebook page.... under the pseudonym "Livinin Thed" I'm not ready to splash myself personally on social media just yet ...so send me a friend request if you like...)
Please pass this invitation on to any friends who may be interested in attending.
We will gather together for an afternoon of cruising with Mother Nature’s cooperation. This cruise will be an all back roads ride through the scenic Michigan countryside. And as always, the caravan will travel in packs, and no one is left behind to fend for themselves.
I'm looking for volunteers to be a "pack leader." Maps and driving directions will be provided.
Lunch will be at the Common Grille in Chelsea, MI
After lunch, it's on to the Dexter Cider mill!!!
Here’s the link to the Dexter Cider Mill website: http://www.dextercidermill.com/
Dexter is a very quaint town that resembles Mayberry RFD. During the fall season, there are several festivals going on in the main Town Square.
The Dexter Cider Mill has been in existence for over 100 years, and has the great unfiltered cider we all enjoyed as a kid. The cinnamon doughnuts are greasy and sugary, and they also sell the usual wide fare of apple related items in the store.
Don't forget to bring your fly swatters so you can whack away at the bees that will be circling your cider cup! (seriously, I'm bringing one!)
When we arrive Dexter, we will drive and park as close to or on the property of the cider mill as we can.
Here’s the itinerary:
Cruise In Date: Saturday, October 22nd.
If it rains, the event will be cancelled. I will post the cancellation on the forum and my Facebook page.
Cruise Location Starting Point: Huron High School parking lot. Address: 32044 Huron River Drive, New Boston. (Across the street from Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery. If you need assistance confirming the location, just email me at luvmyc6@comcast.net)
Mingle Time/Assembly of Caravan/Line Up of Cars: 10:00 am.
Depart for Cruise: 10:30 am. If we have stragglers, and someone is running late because of traffic problems, or you are lost, please call me or text me on my cell at 313-220-4949, and we’ll accommodate you if the wait isn’t too long!
Arrive Common Grill: 11:30 am.
Address: 112 South Main Street Chelsea, MI 48118
http://www.commongrill.com/
We will depart Common Grille between 2:00 and 2:30 since there have been requests in the past to linger and shop in some of the very quaint stores in town for the ladies.
End Rally Point: The Dexter Cider Mill.
3685 Central Street Dexter, MI
When you RSVP, don't forget to mention how many in your party so I can give The Common Grille a final head count.

See! I told you! After a few years of hosting the event, it's becoming a tradition with your CTS-V group! Looks like you might end up being a pack leader.

Question: My Vette will not be anywhere NEAR road worthy by then, but I'd like the opportunity to meet some of you guys in the area. I could always roll my 79 Trans Am out... Is a Vette in attendance required to attend?

Wow, count is up to 46! I called Common Grille yesterday and threw out a reservation number for 40 thinking that would be enough. Looks like I'm going to have to give them a call again.
Steve/Kevin/George: you guys are definitely going to have to be pack leaders at this point. I may need one more given that it's only September 21 and our group is this large. I don't like to put more than 12 cars in a group so we can all get through intersections/lights/stop signs together and no one is left behind.

Suz - I just found out there's been a birthday party scheduled for my soon to be step daughters children on the same day. Kimi and I will not be able to attend the cruise this year. 😟
