Dayton Area: Voss Chevy
What are the opinions of the Voss Service Dept (Loop Rd)?
I learned yesterday that I have the dreaded differential leak. :cry
Does anyone have another service dept in a 50-70 mile radius that has a proven track record?

Re: Dayton Area: Voss Chevy (JeffMc)
Jeff,
I bought my car at Voss and have had it serviced there many times. Jim Jones, who is the Corvette service advisor, is a great guy and works with you very well. I have had excellent experiences every time with the actual service, with the exception of my last problem. They changed the seals on my differential, and ever since then I have had a low level vibration/resonance/humming from the rear area when decellerating when I reach about 10MPH. I have had it back twice (3 times counting the original trip), and they keep saying they realigned and retightened everything. It seems fine for about a week, then noise starts up again. Just like it did yesterday. So, I guess another trip over there and a big discussion with management is in order.
Again, other than this, I have no problems, and once I talk to the "right" people, I hope this is worked out as well.

Jeff,
I agree with Keith's reply. I've had two cars serviced there with no problems. Nothing as serious as the differential, but they did the work, didn't tear up the car and treated me right. Jim Jones is the guy to work with.

I purchased two previous Corvettes from Voss and the wife her Monte Carlo. They actually have a good service department and decent mechanics.
I wanted to buy my 2002 Corvette from them... but the sales department?????
totally different story :)

Thanks for all the replies!
I had a feeling that that Jim Jones was a stand up guy.
Guess I have to do it, I sure hope that I get it back in better condition.
Once again many thanks! :yesnod:

Kieth is correct Jim Jones the service advisor for corvettes is a super nice guy. I recently took my 02 in for a transmission leak (MN6) and they had to tear it down twice to stop the leak, they replaced the rear tail section of the tranny. Its not leaking now. Make sure they use hocky pucks at your jacking points or they will crack your rockers. Buds in St Marys sells a lot of vettes but I'm not sure on there service.

Keith,
I hope that it goes well for you. Would you mind if I reference your issue? This may help with your cause and mine... since bad publicity often gets things DONE and RESOLVED. If you prefer that I not, I won't.
I have purchased 6 cars (3 vettes) there in the last 4 years... because they will 'deal' with me and are fairly high volume. The sales staff really a pain though.

I don't know much about Voss, but I do know that Bud's in St. Marys is good if Voss doesn't work out. My family is lifetime Bud's customers, and their vette servis is always excellent.

Keith,
Actually, I also live in Washington Township, right off Rahn between Marshall and 48. :)
When I take my car in Monday morning, I'm going to ask to meet the tech and ask about other Diff work they have done. Hopefully they'll honestly answer. I'll mention that I have an associate that is having issues after his repair with seals and vibration. What makes them believe my repair will go any better? :smash:

JeffMc, As I stated earlier make sure you mention to the tech to use hockey pucks at your jacking points, the first time they worked on my tranny leak they chipped off the edge of my right front rocker, when I took the car back the second time they repaired the rocker panel. My techs name was Dave,Jim Jones told me they use hockey pucks, but I don't think the tech used them on my car. You can mention my issue if you want to. Harley

Alright, I think I am ready... 2 new coats of Zanio.
Thanks for the tip on the pucks. I wil be sure to 'remind' them.
- Write down miles... check.
- Reset top speed in Window Commander... check.
- Ask to meet Tech... check
- Ask tech about other Differential work... check
- Ask about Keith's situation... check
- Remind them to use pucks... check
- Ask them if the parts are in stock... check
- Bring lawn chair to watch them work... :smash:
Thanks guys!

Re: Dayton Area: Voss Chevy (JeffMc)
Purchased my car from Voss. Had it in for service only once to adjust leaky windows [Vert]. Jim Jones was my contact as well. Car was completed late and window leaks were in worse shape afterwards. In Jim's defense - he did say they are tough to get just right and to bring it back for another tweak if it doesn't work out. I just haven't done that - because it seems like more pain than it's worth [leak is relatively minor].
I purchased and used the service department at Lang's for my previous Vette ['94 C4 Coupe]. They do not move near the volume that Lang's does - but they're service is first rate. I'd recommend the service dept at either dealership to you.

Re: Dayton Area: Voss Chevy (kvozel)
Well I took it in this morning need to keep my fingers crossed.
Keith, when I asked about your situation Jim stated it was related to your 'aftermarket' exhaust. Of course, this doesn't resolve the fact you didn't have this issue before hand.
At least now they know other customers are watching them. :smash:

and you are right, it wasn't doing it until I took it in. I need to talk to Jim on Wednesday, especially since he never gave me that excuse.

Keith,
Hopefully the exhaust excuse gives you a heads up.
I learned about the leak last Wednesday and setup the appointment for Monday. Which gave them 4 days to get all the parts. I was told that it would be done Monday evening of course it wasn’t. Excuse? Missing a seal. Great.

Re: Dayton Area: Voss Chevy (JeffMc)
When I took my 02 back to Voss for the repair of the rocker panel they said one day for that and the next day to try to fix the tranny leak agin. They had it from Monday morning till Thursday afternoon. They replaced the rear transmisson housing and all the seals. So far no leaks after 750 miles.
