Default New guy question

Got the avatar and signature picture thing down. Wanted to create a public album and a private album for friends. Do I have to do all this photo bucket stuff to do this ? I understand the benefits pkg paying subscribers get. Previously owned two Corvettes, getting back into it. Slowly. This is going take a while. For a guy that is looking, but doesn't currently own a Corvette, a paid membership is a bit of an extravagance. No dis-respect intended.
On the other hand, I see some people only join the forum to sell a Corvette. So I can see certain ... limitations for non subcribers.
But I just wanted to put a little bit of myself out there, so members would know I'm an enthusiast, not a collector or speculator.
So, do I have to have one of those photo accounts to do this ?

See the Help Guide for information:

Specifically:

This has nothing to do with PhotoBucket as the content is hosted on CorvetteForum locally.

This is the method that I have used for several years. Today it started doing something different.

When I paste the IMG line into a post, the forum changes the line to an attachment line. The result is the picture and then a second one as an attachment.

See:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...post1582726837
for the result and more information.

Can anyone tell me what is going on? What changed?

Thanks.

You are able to duplicate the problem, but why does it happen now? and how can you correct it to eliminate the second picture (the attachment I did not want)?

Thanks.

Thanks.
The added a feature yesterday that captures image attachments so they are automatically saved to the site as opposed to hosted on photobucket for example. The issue is that when you make a post and use the [IMG] pictures feature, the site automatically captures and notes the image as an attachment. From what I gather they are trying to come up with a fix for this new feature/issue. In all liklihood, they will come up with a work around. The easiest fix would be to allow everybody to add pictures via attachment instead of using the [IMG] method. It seems kind of redundant to not enable the attachment feature for all users yet have the site do it automatically and end up with duplicate images on the pages. If the current scenario is the way things will be moving forward, they will effectively increase the bandwidth usage of the site due to duplicate pictures on all attachments.

Here is where the root cause of the issue was mentioned by the CF mods.
