Pages Loading Slowly

Recently for me, the pages have suddenly become very slow to load. The length of time to wait is variable but very much longer than before. Something has changed. It seems to have started about the time the pictures were added to the top of the pages. All other sites are loading as they always do, but not this one.
Running Safari 5.1.7 on OS 10.6.8

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Please describe the slow issue as there are different cases of slowness that are due to different issues.

I'm going to take a guess that your slowness issue is that the top section of the pages load, but the rest of the content doesn't load until X seconds later?

If not, please describe the issue further.

That is correct. The page loads the header and one blank white area under it where the ads typically show and the rest of the page is gray for a variable amount of time. Reminds me of being on the site with a 56K modem many years ago.

I have cleared my cache and re-logged in to no avail.

I'm convinced that the slow load problem is a result of adding that picture gallery to the site. Even after waiting the approximate 30 seconds with a blank page and the page loads to a point where you can use it, the loading is still taking place in the background with no visible difference in the page. It may take upwards of 45 seconds more for the page load to complete in some cases.

I've never used the new picture feature and don't intend to. Please give us a way to disable it. The feature is causing me to use way too much time and bandwidth for a useless feature.

I have yet to see any real slowdown with regarding the CF to load on either of my PC's. My desktop PC runs Win7, my HP laptop runs Vista; I use FireFox v16 on both. I have Comcast as my ISP with typical download speeds around 22-30 mbps.

My current load times for CF is around 2-4 seconds for the entire forum index page including the picture gallery/battle section. Is the gallery and picture battle on a separate server? If so and that server (or groups of servers) may be running slow, that may be why it takes extra time for the CF pages to load.

Right now, I'm using my Vista laptop on my wireless network and there is no real slowdown of anything.

56 seconds to "see" my last post

45 seconds when I click on to post again

message me when its fixed

all other sites on MY computer are less than 10 seconds

Im with all the above comments. Its like going back in time 10 years. This site is slowwww lately.
Part of the page loads. Then you wait forever and then instantly the rest of it pops up just when you thought it had timed out. It doesnt matter if I am using my 6 mbps connection or 25 mbps connection.
Lame.

Believe me, it's something on your end. I'm on here 3 or 4 times a day at various times from 9 AM to about 11:30PM. Except for a slightly slow 2 hours a couple of days ago, I've had no problems.

From the time I double click a forum icon on my PC's desktop until I get the full page display of whichever forum I selected, it takes about 6 to 7 seconds. Takes about 2 seconds to go to another forum.

Maybe it's your browser, maybe it's your ISP. Be sure you ditch IE and use Firefox, or Chrome.

You need to read the posts a little closer. You will see that ditching IE is not the answer.

I am the op. You must not have read the op. If you did you would have seen I'm on a Mac. IE is not there.

I can run CF on a multitude of servers, laptops and workstations, any web browser, in a lab, 1GB LAN speed. I still get the same result - it's this website.

My maybe is the ads are holding their window open so you view their animations completely, until the ad animation times out. If I repeatedly click on my browser reset, I'll eventually land on a non-animated ad - and it goes through in about 4 seconds.
The Mercedes Benz ad is the worst.
The Chrysler/Jeep ad is about a medium.

It's real slow today, not enough nodes to handle all the traffic, accessing the links.

My frustration is, that it only happens on this site!! I'm not a computer expert. I was using Firefox and switched back to IE.. as it (computer) was slow on every site... I'll try another search engine and see.....

I also started having probs since the pics started. Many times my pages load blank and i have to back out and retry

I just waited about 6 minutes for one page to load the ad - the site is slow. I usually have to go completely out, then back into CF to clear this condition, just so a page will load the ad.

I'm going to find something else to do.

The forum has worked great for me and continues to work great unless the US Cellular banner ad is displayed. Then there's a lot of kind of freezing then working then re-freezing going on.
