I've tried gif, jpg, png, nothing seems to get better. I did get the link to work but the image size is to big. Limited to Kb? It's 2015! LOL

It worked OK for me when I uploaded it to your account.

It is also just an avatar. They were not intended to meet a certain photo quality. Having avatars in MB would be a little excessive for their purpose and comes at the cost of additional bandwidth (both sides) and performance. The photo galleries are a better place to upload larger pictures.
