Why does the "Thanks" feature appear and disappear? The thanks button is missing, but the thanks counts are still there. I'm confused.

<p></p><p>It is helpful in the generational and tech sections, where people answer questions about Corvettes and post how-tos that benefit the community. We never believed it would serve any purpose in other sections, but were told it had to be applied to all sections. When there was a significant and persistent clamor to remove the feature from CFOT and PR&C, the IB tech team decided it would be possible to do that after all.

Is there an option to disable the thanks feature by individual user?
I don't care for the score keeping feature at all. Just my own
