I see some but some, but some show up as a small landscape box that I can't open. What's up?

Do you only see the "landscape" pictures on very old threads?

I see the same box with a ? in it. I can't figure out why either.
If anyone knows why please let me know, I've searched with no luck.

Windows XP is an outdated operating system that was discontinued by Microsoft and hasn't received any updates (especially security updates) for some years. Internet Explorer for Windows XP is also outdated and doesn't receive any security updates.
There's two options. You can download Mozilla's Firefox web browser. But take note this is a short-term solution because Mozilla has indicated it will not continue supporting XP for the long-term. They also urge to update your operating system to one that is more modern, still supported, and still receives updates.
Google Chrome once supported XP but has also joined the vast majority of those who have stopped supporting the outdated operating system.
While your Windows XP and IE web browser may work on other websites, it's not long-term nor is it secure when Windows XP and the Internet Explorer browser for Windows XP hasn't received any updates for years. Using Windows XP is at your own risk (security) and also comes with the understanding that as the web continues to develop, Windows XP will become even less usable.
Windows XP was released 16 years ago. In the computer world, that's pretty old.
