I cannot imagine the pain you must feel. This is any parents' worst nightmare, and
that people still drink and drive, is just unimaginable. My thoughts and prayers for
you and your family. Thank you for sharing your tragedy, as reading this may save
someone else's family from from facing the same horror......

As most of you have asked, i would like to keep you updated about the case.

I just received a call from the DA that another trial date is to be scheduled on June 12, 2009. He mentioned that he spoke with the defense attorney and that most likely they will request the judge for an offer. The DA is pushing for the maximum and hopefully, the judge feels the same way.

I will continue to post updates as the case progresses.

Thank you all for heartfelt comments!!!!!

'What struck me the most was when you mentioned "daddy" because she never outgrew that and had a unique, sweet, warm way of saying it.'

Cali, I have one daughter (28) and one son (25). I almost lost my daughter three years ago. A car she was standing behind rolled onto her, pinning her underneath. We weren't sure for a while if she would survive, but she did. The docs said she would probably always limp (both legs broken, one thigh bone, ribs, plus burns from the exhaust). After several surgeries she now can run five miles a day.
She still calls me "Daddy".
Best of luck to you, and treasure your daughter and your son.

Your post sent so much tears both joy for you that you still have your lovely daughter and sadness that mine is no longer with me.

Nonetheless, I believe they are both in our hearts. I still have not found closure and at this point, I don't think it will ever come. I can only wait for the judicial process to finally convict the defendant for her senseless and selfish act and this will give me peace of mind.

I don't know if your children still live with you but that's beside the point. Whether they live with you or not, they're only a phone call away and always remind them how much they're loved. Something I always did with Sam when she was away in college.

Thank you for your warm words!

Default with all my love

there is no words, to comfort you for your loss, its a very hard way, you are going thru, please accept my sincere condoleances.
don´t be waiting the man´s justice, to have your mind´s peace back, found by yourself, if your son is looking at you from heaven, he wants to see you happy, or at last, in peace.

I have no words; my daughter is 16 and just starting driving and I could not imagine if something terrible like this happened.

My prayers to you and your family...

I hope the driver gets prosecuted to the maiximum extent of the law!

Today, the disappointment and frustration dealing with our slow judicial process is finally over!

The judge convicted the lady drunk driver that killed my daughter and sentenced her to 9 years and 8 months in state prison of which she is to serve at least 85% of that time. She spent 20 months in county jail but the judge only gave her 15% credit for time served.

Others say it's not enough but whatever the case may be, it will not bring my lovely daughter back.

This will not give me closure but it did give me peace of mind. Peace of mind that she was convicted of her crime and the thought that there will be one less senseless individual driving in our streets.

Thank you for all your continued support, encouragement, kind words, and prayers as me and my boys went through trying times.

It's good to hear you at least have some peace of mind and can stop wondering what punishment the drunk driver will get.
And yes I agree her sentence is not enough for the loss of your beautiful daughter. I just hope that lady suffers enough to understand what pain she has caused.

Default Now is the time to heal

81cali I am sorry to hear she was let off lightly and to me she got off lightly because thier is no price or time that can be compaired to the loss you and your Family have had to deal with. I have followed this since you posted it I posted only once and have waited myself to hear the outcome of the driver. I hope now that you and your family will be able to heal from your pain and in Gods plan you will some how.

I just saw this thread. I live in Irvine and I am up and down the 55 almost 3-4 times a week. I have two daughters, one mentioned as my user name, they are only 7 and 10. But what happened to you is my biggest fear. I only wish that I would react as half the man as you have demonstrated throughout this thread. God speed and may you heal in peace.

That is so sad. I just lost my mother yesterday, 2 weeks shy of her 103 birthday. The almighty moves in ways we will never understand.

I lost my daughter to a stupid *** drunk driver also. Only he was driving the car she was in. He was screwing around and ran out of talent. We heard rumors of a sweetheart deal and sure enough, as expected, the POS only got 2 years, and only had to complete one. Now he is out, married and has a daughter, living life to the fullest.

He learned nothing because a few months after he got out, he had a picture of himself with a bottle of Jack, driving his car with the post "party time". My daughter is still dead. There's a special place in hell I hope for *******s like that.

God Bless you and yours who have lost a loved one.
