What a horrible tradgedy. My 2 girls are only elememtary age but I can't imagine my life without them. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.

SANTA ANA -- A suspected drunk driver speeding the wrong direction on the Costa Mesa Freeway collided with a truck headed north early this morning, leaving drivers of both vehicles and a passenger in the hospital.
The California Highway Patrol believes that Yanira Ramirez, 25, of Fontana, somehow ended up heading west on the eastbound side of State Highway 91 around 1:21 a.m, said Officer Denise Quesada. Ramirez then allegedly turned her 2006 Nissan Altima onto the northbound Costa Mesa Freeway in the southbound lanes at a high rate of speed.

Near Lincoln Ave., Ramirez allegedly struck a 1996 Toyota pickup driven by 19-year-old Steven Nguyen of Riverside. Pauline Portes, 19, of Glendale, was riding with him. All three sustained major injuries.

Emergency crews transported Ramirez and Nguyen to UCI Medical Center and Portes to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana. Authorities arrested Ramirez on suspicion of felony driving under the influence.

I am very very sorry for your loss. I'm sure she was a beautiful young lady and i wish i knew why people refuse to learn that drinking and driving is just plain WRONG. Hopefully the judge will give the driver of the other car a Loooooooog time behind bars to remember what they have taken from you and your family. Again, I'm very sorry !

I am so sorry for your and your family. As a child and family therapist I have worked with families over the years who have sufferred in much the same way; the sudden and tragic loss of a someone just entering the prime of their lives. From both myself and Vettegirl our prayers go out for you.
