R.I.P. Ray and Lloyd-passed on together 4/18/15
I started this thread to say goodbye to my friend Ray (C6Ray) and Lloyd, who I never had the chance to meet.
Pat and I put on The Block of Orange GTGer and there is the Valley GTGer.
Lloyd might have stopped by at The Block, but I don't remember if he did, Ray is another story.
Ray would drive all the way from Porter Ranch, or there abouts, to come by The Block and go with us on our cruises. What a guy to drive all that way just to come with us.
He was always in a super mood, standing there in his long sleeve shirt opened down a few buttons, sleeves partly rolled up and smoking those cigs...the face of "COOL."
When he suffered his stroke, the news was devastating to all of us. A few months ago Pat and I drove out to the Valley GTG to see Ray. We were told that he sometimes showed up there in his wheelchair. But alas, that was one of the times he didn't show, so Pat and I didn't get to see and talk with him...our loss.
So, in closing, I just want to say that I feel privileged that I got to know Ray and to call him my friend.
God bless you Ray and Lloyd and to your families that are grieving.

My dear cousin Lloyd
Thank you ufso for starting this thread.
Lloyd was 66 years old, a cancer survivor and a good soul. He and his wife Judy are some of the strongest individuals I have ever met. Their family has experienced more tragedy and hardship than most, yet it never stopped them from being the kind good people that they are. I wish I was closer with Lloyd, when I was little I know my younger brother would obsess over his cars and always want to drive with Lloyd.
He was a great human being, and it kills me I ran out of time with him. I wish I could have gotten to know him more. We are having a hard time comprehending this situation.
I did not know Ray, but what I do know is that Ray wanted to go with Lloyd that day because he felt Lloyd was a safe driver. I know Lloyd was a safe driver, a speedster but safe none the less.
To Ray's family, my deepest condolences. This situation is incomprehensible and tragic. The world is at a loss without Ray and Lloyd.
I love you Lloyd <3

Safety Car
I met Ray a few times and he was always a super cool guy. Always had something funny to say and he just had this vibe as a cool guy you wanted to hang out with. I saw him just before his stroke but after his stroke I sent him get wells and my best wishes. Now I wish I could've made the Valley GTG one of those times. We lost a great guy and Corvette brother. After everything he had been through, at least his last moments were doing something he loved and with friends. We'll miss you Ray. Have those donuts waiting for us when we see you again.

Melting Slicks
Let me start by saying I have been apart of the Valley GTG for about 10 years and came to know Ray pretty well. From GTG's and car shows, to running at Spring Mountain, to bs'ing at RPM, Ray was a great guy and you never know what he'd say next. Always wearing a blue button down, he surely will be missed As for Lloyd, I just had the pleasure of meeting a few months back. He seemed to be a great guy loving vettes as well as motorcycles. These two men will definitely by missed. My utmost condolences to their families and friends!! See ya on the other side brothers

Every so often I scan the Southern California Forum to see what my old buddies at the Block and the Valley group. Miss the drives the comaraderie and the meets.
Now to here that we lost two, I am saddened.
R.I.P. both Llyod and my good friend C6Ray, we had some hellacious runs together.

My deepest condolences go out to the families of Lloyd and Ray.
I never met Lloyd, but again wish his family the best in these hard times...
As far as Ray, I've had the pleasure of knowing him for quite some time. I've been on many canyon runs and car gatherings with him over the years, and ALWAYS enjoyed his company. I used to rib him a bit and ask him to repeat words like dirt, and Turbo, due to his heavy east coast accent.
He became a pretty darn good driver, and I remember him coming out regular to the corvette challenge track days to support us.
We had some great canyon runs, followed by some great food and conversation, I'll miss him!
I remember a few years back, I had a gathering at my mountain house up in Idyllwild, and a few of the guys stayed over. When we got up in the morning, Ray was gone, and know one new where he was. Turns out he got up at like 3:00 AM, could not sleep, and drove the 135 miles home in the dark, and poor weather to boot!!
REST in Piece my friend!

Hey Guys,,this is George{1BADVT}
Haven't posted here in years cause I sold my Vette and bought a '32 coupe,,,but just wanted to pay my respects to Ray,Lloyd, and all their Families.......
I am the one who started the Valley Vettes years ago,but as time went on,,after the GTG's some folks wanted to "test the roads' and I never was as good a driver as they were,,so I passed on the runs and eventually turned the reigns over to Ray.
I always enjoyed the "ribbing" Ray would give me every GTG...
I know these Guys LOVE "carving the canyons",,,but speed like that is much safer on an enclosed track...
Again,,God Bless them and may they enjoy Their new Vettes in Heaven!!
