I, like many on the forum, never had an opportunity to meet David in person but I felt like I knew him. I cannot describe the feeling of loss at reading of his passing. David was funny, caring, articulate, sarcastic and took the time to "know" his fellow posters. Words are just not enough.
We will miss you, David. God speed!

This is terrible.

I was seriously going to take a trip south to meet the old coot. Last time we spoke was New Years eve. Gonna miss you much man, and glad I got the opportunity to know you.

Our last pm convo from New Years eve....
Your only human David, even for an ornery bartender, I don't believe I have ever seen a picture of you. But nonetheless, you are a fountain of knowledge and a constant source of inspiration!! Best again for all, in this den of inequity and to our extended kin.
2016 Here we come!!
Thank you for those kind words Spudsy!
It's really unfortunate that we all live so far apart.
Besides yourself, there are about 7 or 8 others that I'd like very much to meet in person.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

We exchanged PM's quite a bit sort of ironic that when I had my H.A. last may he was encouraging me to press on. Which I have done.
Were there no warning signs, had he been seeing his doctor ??
We never know when the bell will toll, just sad
RIP

Truly shocked.

I don't believe it. His biggest concern was the colonoscopy and nails in the street from the new houses going up in his beautiful subdivision in Florida. Not a regular follower of Hammy's bar and grille thread, but he seemed to be living the good life. Cut short. RIP, Hameister.

David always said he was going to leave his GS to his grandson. I hope his grandson will be able to have the car in remembrance of a fine man.
I also hope the family will post his obituary so we can know a little more about the man we all knew as Hammy!

Never got to meet the man behind the bar but the door was always open and a friendly word at hand. Hammy, you will be missed by many and your humor and candor will not be replaced. Rest in peace my friend.
