Well, I just purchased my 4th Corvette night before last. I started with a 2001 convertible in 04, the bought a 1982 with 56,000 mile 2 yrs later. Then in 06 i bought a brand new C6. In 2007 thieves broke into my garage and cleaned me out including the C3 and a Chrysler 300, luckily they couldnt snag the C6. Well this summer I decided it was time to let the C6 go since it only had 12,000miles in the 4yrs I owned it.....sad day but realistically it was the best, no reason to payforsomething that reallywasnt used. Well, tuesday night I was searching Craigslist for ****sandgiggles and noticed a 1999 for sale for atoo good to be true price. Decided to call on it and went to check it out. Car looked AWESOME upon inspection with no signs of a repaint or damage other then a scratch here or therebutthe interior shows signs of age. Upon a test drive,it drove straight, ran great, shifted smooth, "most" things functioned properly. Upon talking to the owner it was disclosed it was a salvage title but I coulnt see where the damage might of been...a good fix if youask me. The owner stated to the best of his knowledge it was a theft only and didnt think it was in a wreck. Well, long story short....the price was good enough that i coulnt passit up and get another Vette in my garage. Took it to a friend today to change ALL the fluids (he works for a shop) and upon inspection, he statedit didnt need anything changed and it looked like it had been well serviced....BONUS! Took it to the DMV to do that part of the paperwork and didnt think about getting it smogged. Well after waiting for 2 hrs inline....I need a smog. Take off across the street (oh how convienent) and have it smogged.....passes no issues. Get talking to the owner and he happens to be friendswith the CFO of our company and he offers to put it on the rack for a quick inspection for no charge (bonus...lol). Well it does show on the left front to have been in an accident, the frame has been straightened but he stated it was done very well and I shouldn't worry about it. So myrambling ends with this, I got another Vette in the garage that needs a tad but of TLC and I am excited about tinkering with it.
