Thinkin' of trading in my Porsche!
Hey all. I've gone from a '67 442 to a Triumph TR-6 to a Porsche 911 SC that I still own, and have owned for over 20 years. Great car, but looking for something a little more visceral in my old age. Thinking about a C3 or a C5, and my Porsche is worth pretty much what I paid for it.
I live in Colorado and love to drive the twistys and also love to step on the gas and "go." I'm hoping this transition will be painless and worth it.
The ones that got away that are worth way more than I would have paid? A Lamborghini Miura, a 427 Cobra and a '67 Vette (ouch). All of these would have been better than putting money in an IRA. I could have had my own museum.
Just hanging out here looking for some advice, and maybe a friend or two.

Welcome to the forum.
If you post an ad to trade your Porsche in either the C3 Vettes for Sale forum or the C5 Vettes for Sale forum, please read the rule in the sticky section for trading a car other than a Vette for a Vette.
Especially note that you must post an asking price for your car, even for a trade. Also, you must list some characteristics of the cars you will accept, like colors, and/or tranny type, vert or coupe, mods, mileage, etc..

Hi Ziggy,
You may find the C3s little tougher to drive unless it has been completely modernized under the hood. I love the looks of them though! I love my C5 and it is pretty easy to drive especially at the higher speeds. I still get a work out when I drive it and I swear that clutch pedal goes all the way to the front bumper! How do shorter people drive these cars?
I did find the C3s I drove a bit 'stiffer' in the corners. Not sure how to really describe it but the C5s felt more flexible, if that makes any sense. Either way you go, I am sure you will love it. I had a friend whose new wife insisted he part with his completely customized '07 a couple years ago and buy a porsche. He lasted about a year and he went out an bought another Vette!

Welcome. I just traded in a Porsche for a C6 Vette with the Z51 package and am a newb here myself. It was between this or a C5 Z06 as handling is very important to me too. My Porsche was a rag top and I wasn't completely ready to give up the open sky so I got the C6 Z51 with the targa top and I've been happy with it. I can promise you one thing, upkeep will be cheaper with the Vette and the sky is the limit when it comes to affordable customization options.
Straight line acceleration with the Vette is phenomenal, but cornering is still very scary, even with the Z51 package that includes stiffer springs and stabilizer bars. I'm used to going 65 with ease on tight freeway off ramps in the Porsche. With the Vette in a tight turn, the car has a bit of body roll, then understeer and it's scary when you hit a bump in a curve at 45. After doing some research, I believe the weak link is the stock shocks that are too bouncy and allow to much lean. I've got some DRM Bilstein shocks in the mail now that are supposed to dramatically improve things. I'm hopeful as the Bilstein's are what Porsche uses from the factory. I also want to swap run flats to the Michelin PSS I had on my Porsche as it's an amazingly grippy tire, wet or dry. I'm thinking this will do the trick, but we shall see.
Anyways, welcome to the forum. Hope you stick around.
