Hi all
Hi all,
Purchased my first C3 1977 Corvette Stingray just 2 weeks ago and been loving every minute of owning this awesome car. Only had 43,260 original miles on it when I had the previous owner deliver it to me. I shopped around for 3 months before I chose this car as my next classic car.
I am kind of **** when it comes to my classic cars and have owned a few others in the past. A 1972 El Camino and 2 1976 Malibu Classics so this is my 4th classic car.
I am the kind of guy that will inspect every inch of the car before I start putting many miles on the car.
First thing I did the weekend after I bought it was put it up on a lift to inspect the under carriage and found a few problems right of. They dualed the Exhaust system out and did not put a heat shield above the Driver's Side CAT and they ran the exhaust too close to the tranny.
So I have purchased heat shields to protect both of these areas. Just waiting for delivery on the parts so I can install them. I figure this is cheaper then having the exhaust system rerun near the tranny.
Next thing I found was they did not put enough clearence on the exhaust tips so they have slightly melted the rear bumper. I jumped up and down on the tips today to bend the hangers for almost an inch of clearence now. This problem has been fixed. I am going to replace the new stock style mufflers with either Magna Flows or Flow Masters in the future to give the car a deeper sound.
I was wondering why it was shifting hard so I checked the fluid levels and found someone over filled the transmission with fluid so it is going into the shop next week to have the tranny serviced and filter replaced. I am going to have them install a drain plug while they have the pan off.
I gave it a bath and waxing today then cleaned the carpets and conditioned the leather seats. Interior is showing it's age with a little carpet fading and 4 small cracks in the door panels. I will have the cracks repaired so they do not get any larger soon. Already got a number for a repair shop from a buddy.
Other then these little problems this car is Awesome
