Default From Neons to a Vette!

Hey guys, I am really glad to join this forum and fill my head with knowledge on vettes. Particularly the C5 Z06! Its a nice performance car that I will be able to afford that looks sexy, RWD, light and is reliable.

I come from a background of owning multiple Dodge Neons. Never have owned anything other then a Mopar. Currently have 2 Neons. A 1st gen daily and a SRT-4 that has quite a bit done to it.

I believe its time for a change. Its time to get a sexy Vette.

Would it be ideal to look for a 2002 and up Z06 since they had the bump in horespower? I read about the ABS not working on some and waterpump issues? Any other common things to look for when buying one?

Thanks guys. I really won't be posting much, just reading quite a bit from here. But a jump start in advice would be great!

Oh wow, here is a big jump start right here under my nose:

All Z06's were manuals correct? I hope so!

Well I did ask questions that you quoted with no response LOL.

I finally did sell my SRT-4 Neon, it will be missed. Going to be searching for a Vette, either a c5 Z06 or a base c6. C6 Z06 is out of my price range.

Welcome aboard, I hope you find your Z06. This section is for introductions only, all other inquiries should be posted in there proper sections. This may be why you have had no response. Here's a quick link to the C5 Z06 discussion section, good luck:

I don't have one so I am not sure. Keeping it clean is number 1 priority when and if I get one. I found a 08 C6, 6 speed for 22k, with 95k miles. Has clean title and in hand, was in a front end collision but the title is still clean... The Frame horn is damaged, which he said is normal because people will pull too far forward and it gets damaged on parking blocks easily. But other then that he said the car runs and drives great. He doesn't have maintenance records though. 3rd owner, bought at an auction, he has had about a year and put around 9k on it. Owner buys and sells cars, he has had 4 C6's, Vipers etc. Mileage kind of scares me a bit, I would hate to buy it and have to put a bunch of money into it. He said that he replaced the battery and starter since he has had it. Probably has the original clutch, he said it shifts perfect.

I like the wheels. They make the plain C6 wheels pop, pretty nice.
