Default Dream worth Living

Season's Greetings fellow Corvette Enthusiasts,

Well I finally decided to join this great forum 7 years after bringing Yvette home with me ('02 Coupe, Torch Red In & Out).

This 40 year old dream came true for my 50th BD. I still wake in the night occassionally and head to the garage to verify if owning my own Corvette was just a dream I was having or is a reality. I guess old habits are hard to break, but I am so ecstatic that I made this dream come true.

Looking forward to getting to know people who have the same passion as me and talk the same language.

Peace, Hillel

Every time I simply slip behind the wheel the neurotransmitters in my brain trigger hormones that make me feel good from head to toe. I sometimes just sit in it while it is in the garage during lengthy phone calls, rather than the recliner in the house. The sound of the exhaust only turns this feeling up a few notches.

But when I accelerate or glide through a tight turn I feel like I am on the Space Mountain Roller Coaster at Disneyland.

I recall the first time I pushed the pedal to the floor while getting on a rural highway entrance ramp, the sound and G Forces felt like I was lifting off in the Space Shuttle. A feeling that took my breath away in a matter of 3 seconds.

I hope that answers that question completely.

PS - I do not drive her every day, or whenever there is inclement weather, in an effort to make the honeymoon period last forever, if you know what I mean.

I love these type's of posts.

We get it!

I've been driving a Dinan Bmw 328i for the past 7 years. It does everything perfectly...too perfectly. It hits 60 in roughly 5 1/2 seconds, has neck snapping breaks, corners on a dime sliver, has four air bags and gets 31mpg--all with four doors and every convenience option you'd want. You'd ask, Why the hell drive a C4 then?

Because of what you posted. The vette has character..it lives and breaths. When you fire it up you feel it in your spleen. When you sit in it you feel like a jet jocky. You can't put it in any class..people who've never owned them just don't understand...

Congrats!

ABSOFREAKENLUTELY! This is what I meant about speaking the same language that most others simply do not understand. It is like we were entrusted with a priceless treasure passed down from Harley J. Earl and Zora Arkus-Duntov in heaven above, when we took hold of the keys, inserted them for the 1st time in the ignition and turned it to hear the roar of all those horses under the glass hood.

I realize I am getting a bit carried away here, but all these shared passions make me fell like the kid who possessed the magical power to pull the Sword from the Stone or even better the explorers who claimed they found the Fountain of Youth!!! Yup, I sure found that fountain, and I love drinking from it on ever drive. .

By the way, I'm on the last stretch reading "All Corvette's are Red" by James Schefter. If you want to get your blood pumping on your C5 even more, read that.

All Corvettes Are Red: James Schefter: 9780671685010: Amazon.com: Books All Corvettes Are Red: James Schefter: 9780671685010: Amazon.com: Books

I plan on getting a C5 next spring/summer, another white car (98-02)..not getting rid of the C4, just adding to the early collection.

Thanks for the book recommendation Salembimmer, I had read a lot of good things about it, and just ordered it on your say so.

So now let me recommend a book to you that is more than a book and it actually has a replica C6 Emblem attached to the upholstered cover. The birth and development thru the years of the Corvette is well covered and the huge 2 page photos are a work of art.

Good luck on your search for the perfect C5
